The ruins of Belchite are, together with the Alcázar of Toledo, and the bombing of Guernica, one of the most important symbols of the Francoist
which was of great strategic importance due to its proximity to the Aragonese capital. A year later, in 1938, the Francoist army recaptured
paradigm of the new architecture promulgated by Francoism.
