Mi Maravillosa y Defectuoso Aventura:

el libro de Números es un libro de la Biblia que describe el viaje del pueblo judío desde el monte Sinaí hasta el borde de la Tierra Prometida para vagar por el desierto y volver al borde de la Tierra Prometida nuevamente. El libro comienza con un censo (Capítulos 1-4) y termina con un censo (Capítulo 26); por lo tanto, el título del libro "Números".

Esquema de Números 6

• El voto de nazareo (vv.1-2)

o Iain Duguid: “El voto de nazareo era una separación temporal de la vida normal para dedicarse a Dios de una manera especial”.

o Por lo general, de 30 a 100 días.

• Las Estipulaciones (vv.3-8) – Durante el período del voto...

o No consumir ningún producto de uva (vv.3-4) o No cortar el cabello (v.5)

• Bendición de Aarón (vv.22-27)

• Aunque el voto de nazareo es un concepto del Antiguo

Testamento, hay un paralelo en el Nuevo Testamento con el voto de nazareo. En Romanos 12:1-2 Pablo declara: “Por tanto, hermanos, os exhorto, en vista de la misericordia de Dios, a ofrecer vuestros cuerpos como sacrificio vivo, santo y agradable a Dios; este es

vuestro acto espiritual de adoración. No os conforméis más al patrón de este mundo, sino transformaos mediante la renovación de vuestra mente. Entonces podrán probar y aprobar cuál es la voluntad de Dios:

su voluntad buena, agradable y perfecta”. Para los cristianos, el antiguo voto de nazareo simboliza la necesidad de separarse de este mundo, un pueblo santo consagrado a Dios (2 Timoteo 1:9; 1 Pedro 1:15).

Las promesas que hacemos

• Nuestras vidas están llenas de promesas que hacemos o Citas: “Te veo en Starbucks a las 8:00 a.m.”

o Tribunal de justicia: “Juro decir la verdad, toda la verdad y nada más que la verdad, que Dios me ayude”.

o Negocios: “Me comprometo a realizar estos servicios para usted por este pago”.

o Negocios: “Me comprometo a pagarles por estos servicios o bienes”.

o Matrimonio: “Te tomo como mi cónyuge legítimamente casado – para tener y sostener desde este día en adelante, para bien, para mal, en la riqueza, en la pobreza, en la enfermedad y en la salud, para amarnos y cuidarnos hasta la muerte hacer parte; según Dios Santa palabra”

o Bautismo: “Seguiré a Jesús todos los días de mi vida”.

o Membresía de la iglesia: “Me comprometo a ser miembro de Grace Fellowship Church y a defender esta iglesia con mis oraciones, mi presencia, mis dones, mi servicio y mi testimonio”.

o Niños: “Los llevaré a las jaulas de bateo el sábado”.

o Job para sí mismo: “Hice un pacto solemne conmigo mismo de nunca desnudar a una chica con mis ojos”. (Job 31:1)

• Aplicación #1a – ¿Cuáles son algunas promesas que ha hecho y cumplido en su vida?

• Aplicación #1b – ¿Cuáles son algunas promesas que ha hecho y roto en su vida?

Sansón: una historia de promesas rotas (Jueces 13-16)

• Dios les dijo a los padres de Sansón que dedicaran a su hijo como nazareo desde el nacimiento y para toda su vida (Jueces 13). Esto significaría que durante toda su vida Sansón no bebería alcohol, no se cortaría el cabello ni se acercaría a los muertos.

• El cabello largo de Sansón era un símbolo de su dedicación como nazareo y fue la fuente de su fuerza sobrenatural (16:17) que le permitió matar a un león con las manos desnudas (14:6), derrotar a un ejército de 30 hombres por sí mismo (14 :19), atrapar 300 zorros con las manos desnudas (15:4), romper cuerdas gruesas (15:14) y

derrotar a un ejército de 1000 hombres sin ayuda con la quijada de un burro (15:15). Pero Sansón rompió su promesa de nazareo de varias maneras:

• Aplicación #2 – ¿Cómo he sido como Sansón? ¿Qué promesas he hecho y roto en mi vida?

¿Qué hacemos con nuestras promesas incumplidas?

1. Restaura las cosas con ______________

• Números 6:10-12

• Expiación: la reconciliación de Dios y los seres humanos a través del derramamiento de sangre como sacrificio.

• Levítico 17:11 – Porque la vida de una criatura en la sangre está, y yo os la he dado para hacer expiación por vosotros mismos en el altar; es la sangre que hace expiación por la vida de uno.

• Hebreos 9:9-12 – Porque las ofrendas y sacrificios que ofrecen los sacerdotes no logran limpiar la conciencia de las personas que los traen. Porque ese antiguo sistema trata solo con alimentos y bebidas y varias ceremonias de limpieza, regulaciones físicas que estuvieron en vigor solo hasta que se pudo establecer un sistema mejor. Así que Cristo ahora se ha convertido en el Sumo

Sacerdote sobre todas las cosas buenas que han venido. Ha entrado en ese Tabernáculo más grande y perfecto en el cielo, que no fue hecho por manos humanas y no es parte de este mundo creado. Con su propia sangre, no la sangre de machos cabríos y becerros, entró en el Lugar Santísimo una vez para siempre y aseguró nuestra redención para siempre.

• Romanos 3:23-25 – Por cuanto todos pecaron y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios, y son justificados gratuitamente por su gracia mediante la redención que fue en Cristo Jesús. Dios lo presentó como un sacrificio de expiación, a través de la fe en Su sangre.

• Aplicación #3 – Señor Jesús, te traigo todas mis promesas incumplidas contra Ti y contra otros y contra mí mismo. Lo siento.

Me arrepiento. Ahora, por fe, aplico Tu sangre derramada a mi vida ya todas mis promesas rotas. Recibo Tu perdón de mi pecado a través de Tu sangre derramada en la cruz. Y recibo Tu nueva vida a través de Tu resurrección de entre los muertos.

¡¡Gracias!!

2. Haz las cosas bien con __________________

• La Biblia dice que cuando rompemos nuestra promesa con una persona de que debemos ir a esa persona y...

a) Pida disculpas. Confiesa tu pecado contra ellos al romper tu promesa (Mateo 5:23-25; Santiago 5:16);

b) Cuando sea posible, haga enmiendas: corrija el error de su promesa incumplida a través de la acción (Levítico 6:1-7;

Lucas 19:8-9; Romanos 12:18);

c) Cuando sea apropiado, renueve su promesa

comprometiéndose nuevamente con la promesa original o con una promesa más factible (Números 6:11-13).

• aplicación #4: ¿Qué pasos debo seguir para arreglar las cosas con las personas con las que he roto una promesa?

Un verso de esperanza

• Jueces 16:22 – Pero el cabello de la cabeza de Sansón comenzó a crecer nuevamente después de haber sido rapado.

• Aunque hubo grandes consecuencias por la promesa incumplida de Sansón, Dios lo perdonó, su cabello comenzó a crecer nuevamente y su fuerza fue restaurada. Y al final de su vida, Dios le dio a Sansón una gran victoria sobre los enemigos filisteos (Jueces 16:3), y Sansón terminó en el Salón de la Fe de la Biblia (Hebreos 11:32).

• ¡Nunca es demasiado tarde para empezar a hacer lo correcto!

• Aplicación #5 – Recibo la esperanza de que nunca es demasiado tarde para empezar a hacer lo correcto. Elijo la obediencia al Señor ahora. Con la ayuda y el poder de Dios, elijo cumplir mis promesas a partir de este día.

Una Oración de Ayuda y Bendición (Números 6:22-27)

• ¿Por qué se coloca la Bendición de Aarón (6:22-27) inmediatamente después del voto nazareo (6:1-21)?

• Creo firmemente que es porque necesitamos la ayuda, el poder, la gracia y la bendición de Números 6:22-27 para cumplir nuestras promesas como las de Números 6:1-21.

• El nombre de Dios (El Señor; Yahweh) se repite 3 veces en la oración.

Necesitamos una relación personal (por nombre) con Dios para cumplir nuestras promesas a Dios ya los demás.

• Para cumplir nuestras promesas a Dios y a los demás, necesitamos que el Señor nos bendiga, que el Señor nos guarde, que el Señor nos dé gracia, que el Señor se dé a sí mismo (su rostro), que el Señor nos dé Su paz.

• Aplicación #6 – Recibe esta bendición y dásela a otros con frecuencia.

Un pensamiento final: _________ siempre cumple todas sus promesas.

• Josué 21:45 – Ninguna de todas las buenas promesas del Señor a la casa de Israel falló; cada uno se cumplió.

• 2 Corintios 1:20 – Porque no importa cuántas promesas haya hecho Dios, son "Sí" en Cristo.

My Beautifully Flawed Journey –

The Book of Numbers is a book in the Bible that describes the journey of the Jewish people from Mt. Sinai to the edge of the Promised Land to wandering in the wilderness and back to the edge of the Promised Land again. The book begins with a census (Chapters 1-4) and ends with a census (Chapter 26); thus, the book title

“Numbers.”

Outline of Numbers 6

• The Nazirite Vow (vv.1-2)

o Iain Duguid: “The Nazirite vow was a temporary separation from normal life to be devoted to God in a special way.”

o Usually, 30 to 100 days.

• The Stipulations (vv.3-8) – During the period of the vow…

o Do not consume any grape products (vv.3-4) o Do not cut hair (v.5)

o Do not go near the dead (vv.6-8)

• What to Do If You Break the Vow (vv.9-12)

• How to Complete the Vow (vv.13-21)

o There is a significant financial cost to the completing of this vow to pay for all of the offerings described in these verses.

o Have you ever burned hair before? There is a very strong and distinct odor when hair is burned!

• Aaron’s Blessing (vv.22-27)

• Although the Nazirite vow is an Old Testament concept, there is a New Testament parallel to the Nazirite vow. In Romans 12:1-2 Paul states,

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your

bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” For Christians, the ancient Nazirite vow symbolizes the need to be separate from this world, a holy people consecrated to God (2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Peter 1:15).

The Promises We Make

• Our lives are full of promises that we make

o Appointments: “I will meet you at Starbucks at 8:00 a.m.”

o Court of law: “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help me God.”

o Business: “I commit to perform these services for you for this pay.”

o Business: “I commit to pay you for these services or goods.”

o Marriage: “I take you as my lawfully wedded spouse – to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish ‘til death us do part;

according to God Holy word”

o Baptism: “I will follow Jesus all the days of my life.”

Samson – A Story of Broken Promises (Judges 13-16)

• God told Samson’s parents to dedicate their son as a Nazirite from birth and for his whole life (Judges 13). This would mean for his whole life Samson was not to drink alcohol, cut his hair, nor go near the dead.

• Samson’s long hair was a symbol of his Nazirite dedication and was the source of his supernatural strength (16:17) that enabled him to kill a lion bare-handed (14:6), defeat an army of 30 men by himself (14:19), catch 300 foxes barehanded (15:4), break thick ropes off (15:14), and defeat an army of 1000 men singlehandedly with a donkey’s jawbone (15:15).

But Samson broke his Nazirite promise in multiple ways:

1. Touched the carcass of a dead ______________ to scoop honey out of its body cavity (14:8-9).

My Beautifully Flawed Journey –

The Book of Numbers is a book in the Bible that describes the journey of the Jewish people from Mt. Sinai to the edge of the Promised Land to wandering in the wilderness and back to the edge of the Promised Land again. The book begins with a census (Chapters 1-4) and ends with a census (Chapter 26); thus, the book title

“Numbers.”

Outline of Numbers 6

• The Nazirite Vow (vv.1-2)

o Iain Duguid: “The Nazirite vow was a temporary separation from normal life to be devoted to God in a special way.”

o Usually, 30 to 100 days.

• The Stipulations (vv.3-8) – During the period of the vow…

o Do not consume any grape products (vv.3-4) o Do not cut hair (v.5)

o Do not go near the dead (vv.6-8)

• What to Do If You Break the Vow (vv.9-12)

• How to Complete the Vow (vv.13-21)

o There is a significant financial cost to the completing of this vow to pay for all of the offerings described in these verses.

o Have you ever burned hair before? There is a very strong and distinct odor when hair is burned!

• Aaron’s Blessing (vv.22-27)

• Although the Nazirite vow is an Old Testament concept, there is a New Testament parallel to the Nazirite vow. In Romans 12:1-2 Paul states,

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your

bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” For Christians, the ancient Nazirite vow symbolizes the need to be separate from this world, a holy people consecrated to God (2 Timothy 1:9; 1 Peter 1:15).

The Promises We Make

• Our lives are full of promises that we make

o Appointments: “I will meet you at Starbucks at 8:00 a.m.”

o Court of law: “I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help me God.”

o Business: “I commit to perform these services for you for this pay.”

o Business: “I commit to pay you for these services or goods.”

o Marriage: “I take you as my lawfully wedded spouse – to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish ‘til death us do part;

according to God Holy word”

o Baptism: “I will follow Jesus all the days of my life.”

What Do We Do With Our Broken Promises?

1. Make it right with ______________

 Numbers 6:10-12

 Atonement – the reconciliation of God and humans through the sacrificial shedding of blood

 Leviticus 17:11 – For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar;

it is the blood that makes atonement for one's life.

 Hebrews 9:9-12 (NLT) – For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them. For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established. So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—He entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

 Romans 3:23-25 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the

redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood.

 Application #3 – Lord Jesus, I bring You all of my broken promises against You and against others and against myself. I am sorry. I repent. Now, by faith, I apply Your shed blood to my life and to all of my broken promises. I receive Your forgiveness of my sin through Your shed blood on the cross. And I receive Your new life through Your rising from the dead. Thank You!!

2. Make it right with __________________

 The Bible says that when we break our promise with a person that we should go to that person and…

(a) Apologize. Confess your sin against them in breaking your promise to them (Matthew 5:23-25; James 5:16);

(b) When possible, make amends – right the wrong of your broken promise through action (Leviticus 6:1-7; Luke 19:8-9;

Romans 12:18);

(c) When appropriate, re-up your promise by committing again to either the original promise or to a more doable promise (Numbers 6:11-13).

 Application #4 – What steps do I need to take to make things right with any people whom I have broken a promise with?

A Verse of Hope

• Judges 16:22 – But the hair of Samson’s head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

• Although there were large consequences to Samson’s broken promise, God forgave him, and his hair began to grow again, and his strength was restored. And at the end of his life, God gave Samson a great victory over the Philistine enemies (Judges 16:3), and Samson ended up in The Bible’s Hall of Faith (Hebrews 11:32).

• It’s never too late to start doing what is right!

• Application #5 – I receive the hope that it is never too late to start doing what is right. I choose obedience to the Lord now. With God’s help and power, I choose to keep my promises from this day forward.

A Prayer of Help and Blessing (Numbers 6:22-27)

• Why is Aaron’s Blessing (6:22-27) placed immediately after the Nazirite vow (6:1-21)?

• I strongly believe it is because we need the help and power and grace and blessing of Numbers 6:22-27 in order to fulfill our promises like Numbers 6:1-21.

• God’s name (The Lord; Yahweh) is repeated 3 times in the prayer. We need a personal (by name) relationship with God in order to keep our promises to God and others.

• In order to keep our promises to God and others we need the Lord to bless us, the Lord to keep us, the Lord to give us grace, the Lord to give us Himself (His face/countenance), the Lord to give us His peace.

• Application #6 – Receive this blessing and give it to others frequently.

One Final Thought –

_______ always keeps all of His promises.

• Joshua 21:45 – Not one of all the Lord's good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

• 2 Corinthians 1:20 – For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ.

Four “Say YES” Prayers for You and Grace Fellowship in Fall 2022

Say YES to HEALING

– Lord, heal us from the consequences of our own sin and others’ sins against us. Heal us from unhealthy behaviors, talk, and agendas. (Jer. 17:14) Interrupt the status quo in each of us that we may be whole and holy. (John 3:3; 6:53)

Ask the Lord specifically to heal _________ in you, your marriage, your family, and the church; and any next steps for you to heal.

Say YES to HOLINESS

– Lord, make us holy as You are holy. (1 Peter 1:16) Wash us with Your Word and enable us to live in holiness (1 Tim. 2:21) as a radiant, spotless, without wrinkle Bride. (Eph. 5;26-27) Give us clean hands and an upright heart.

Invite the Holy Spirit to search you and reveal any places to cleanse.

Say I’m sorry to God. Invite Christ’s holiness upon your life, your family, and the church.

Say YES to the HARVEST

– Jesus, You are saying to us, “the harvest is ready” (John 4:35) for the reaping. Give us the obedience of Peter to do as You did and become fishers of people (John 5:10) so the world will come to know You! (John 3:16, Rev. 5:19) Please lead each of us to share ourselves in serving, giving, and praying.

(Romans 12:1)

Ask God where He wants you to “let down your net” and then say yes to serving; joining a class or group; or going on a mission trip.

Ask Him about your part in giving and praying toward those He longs to know Him.

Say YES to the HOME

– Father, our prayer is to choose to live as Your household (Eph. 2:19) rooted in Christ (Eph 2:20). Fill this “house”

with Your Spirit (Eph 2:22) so that we may grow into a spiritual family as God’s own children. (1 John 3:2) Raise up “mothers and fathers”

who will nurture Your people in love—messy love-- across all ages to truly know You and make You know. (1 Cor. 4:15)

Ask the Lord how you can become more and more connected to God’s family. Anyone to forgive? Anyone to invite to visit? Anyone who needs you? Commit to the Lord to obey.
