Dear Pastor/Administrator/Parish Director:

Fall is here and it is once again time to prepare for the annual

Combined Collections: Church in Mission appeal, which will take place next month. I want to take this opportunity to share details about Combined Collections with you.

This year’s collection will be held October 14-15, 2017 and will once again focus on five ministries that have a meaningful impact throughout the world. The ministries include:

• Catholic Home Missions

• The Catholic Relief Services Collection • Church in Central and Eastern Europe • Peter’s Pence

• World Mission Sunday

Five camera-ready bulletin inserts have been created for use in your parish community. These inserts are excellent educational tools. The ideal timing for use of these inserts would be in the weeks leading up to the collection weekend. Of course, you are free to use the inserts at any time during the year to share information about these important ministries.

Your enthusiastic support of the appeal has a positive impact on the success of the collection. We realize that it may be difficult to preach on five unique and diverse causes, as there are many other demands. However, your endorsement of the appeal would be most helpful and very much appreciated.

The mailing your parishioners will receive prior to the collection will include return envelopes that are addressed to our bank lockbox for deposit and recording. If parishioners return these envelopes in your collection basket, please send the unopened envelopes to the bank in the specially-addressed envelopes we have provided for you. It is critical that we receive the return envelopes this way in order to give proper credit to each parishioner’s record. This is especially important for tax purposes. We also have enclosed extra envelopes for visitors or for new parishioners who may not be a part of our database. If there are parish staff members or volunteers who assist with the Combined Collections: Church in Mission appeal, please share this information with them or provide them with my contact information so I can answer any questions they might have.

Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to help make the Combined Collections: Church in Mission a success. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Archdiocesan Development Office at (414) 769-3570.

Sincerely,

Michele Nabih

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

God has given us our light and our prosperity, all we need and more. As Catholics, members of a Universal Church, we can carry out God’s mission on earth by giving back – by helping people in our own country and around the world to live a healthier life and to grow in the love of Jesus.

Your generous support of the Combined Collections: Church in Mission appeal helps

deliver a better life – both spiritual and physical – to children and families; seniors and the homebound; to those who are sick, lonely, suffering and grieving; and to people who have not yet heard or embraced the Word of God.
