A new Family in Jesus: Love even more…
“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross* and follow a er me is not worthy of me” Mt 10:37
The text of Matthew we read today is one of those texts that could lend to many
misunderstandings, so it is necessary to read it and interpret it in light that invites us to follow
Jesus, being authentic disciples.
Mathew compares the love for Jesus with the love to our father, our mother, our children; our
immediate members of the family. We know that the family has a fundamental value. Family
ties are most important "support" of the people.
Jesus’ demands could seem excessive. Therefore you should understand them in light of the
option to follow Him. In the context of persecution, the disciples had to take options when it
came to live their faith in Jesus of Nazareth.
Discipleship brings the unfailing division within the family circle, among those who believe
and those who do not. And it is there, where the disciple must choose, "love Jesus more".
The new family formed in Jesus, by his followers requires to "love even more..." We can ask
ourselves today: how is my love for Jesus? do I love Jesus more ? What does it mean to love
Jesus even more?

Una nueva familia en Jesús: amar más…
“El que quiere a su padre o a su madre más que a mí no es digno de mí; el que quiere a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí no es digno de mí;
y el que no coge su cruz y me sigue no es digno de mí”
El texto de Mateo que leemos hoy es uno de esos textos que se puede prestar a malas
interpretaciones, por eso es necesario leerlo a la luz que invita a seguir a Jesús, siendo
verdaderos discípulos.
Se compara el amor a Jesús con el amor al padre, a la madre, al hijo y a la hija; es decir, a los
miembros básicos de la familia. Sabemos que, la familia tiene un valor fundamental. Los
vínculos familiares son los más importantes y “sostenedores” de las personas.
Las exigencias de Jesús pueden parecen excesivas. Por eso, hay que comprenderlas a la luz
que invita a seguir al Maestro. En un contexto de persecución, los discípulos, tenían que
tomar opciones a la hora de vivir su fe en Jesús de Nazaret.
Ser discípulo traía consigo la indefectible división en el círculo familiar, entre los que creían
y aquellos que no. Y es ahí, donde el discípulo y la discípula debe optar, es decir, “amar más
a Jesús”. La nueva familia conformada en Jesús, por sus seguidores exige “amar más…”
Podemos preguntarnos nosotros hoy: ¿cómo es mi amor a Jesús? ¿de verdad, amo más a
Jesús? ¿Qué supone para mí amar más a Jesús?

Peregrinación a Tierra Santa
Oremos por los 41 parroquianos de San Gregorio que tienen la bendición de
viajar a Tierra Santa junto con el Padre Andres, el próximo 10 de Julio. Que este peregrinaje sea una experiencia de crecimiento espiritual, que les llene de amor y
servicio para seguir construyendo el reino de Dios aquí en la tierra.
