CAMP ST. BERNARD

Camp Dates: May 31-June 5, June 7-12, June 14-19, June 21-26

LOOKING FOR A WAY TO INCLUDE GOD IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP. Find some new ideas on

a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend. The

Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend is 44

hours where married couples can get away from jobs, kids, chores and phones…and focus only on each other (the way it all began). This weekend can help you find greater depth, growth and enrichment in your relationship. The next weekend in the diocese is scheduled in Cullman, June 19-21 at St. Bernard’s Abbey. You can register online today at website www.ALFL-wwme.org or by calling Bob & Joy Hernan-dez at 678-985-0125.

Serving means following; following Jesus means serving. Also, serving means entering into Jesus’ death – like Jesus we must also be the grain that dies to produce much fruit. When we follow Jesus into his service, we, too, have the pledge of receiving the same honor that the Father be-stows on Jesus. We

see

Jesus by

being

Jesus. It’s that simple! And that challenging. We see Jesus in those who lay down their life in servant hood and others see Jesus in us when we are servants. (Living Liturgy, p.94)

Respect Life Judy Hyatt

There have been more than 54 million abortions performed in the United States since Roe v. Wade was decided back in 1973. To help stop the anti-life push around the world, we ask you to spiritually adopt a baby in danger of abortion and say a daily prayer for a period of nine months. Your prayers CAN make a difference between whether a baby will be born ... or aborted. Our prayers can also be a form of spiritual support for both parents.

St. William began its 15th season of spiritual adoptions the weekend of March 2nd. Please share the love of life given to you by the Lord of all life and spiritually adopt a baby.

We will have cards and pencils in the pews. Please complete the smaller right side with the your name and the name of your spiritually adopted child. Write the name of your spiritually adopted child on the card on the left side that contains the prayer. Separate the two sides and drop the side with your name and the child’s name into one of the baskets held by Pro-Life Committee members who will be in the vesti-bule.

Remember to turn in filled baby bottles to the Pro-Life Basket in the Vestibule.

hearty singing, strong preach-ing, and nimble processions across vast and arduous ter-rain.

Much of this energy was lost over the centuries, with the procession of palms a notewor-thy exception. Northern cli-mates had to reinterpret this Jerusalem liturgy, using for-sythia, willow, or olive branches, but to this day the entry into Holy Week by a community on the move ac-companied by joyful song hearkens back to a venerable tradition. Egeria’s letters were rediscovered a little more than a hundred years ago, but they reveal a pattern of prayer: full, conscious, active participation, to which we have a right and a duty.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITIONS

Each Friday during Lent Stations of the Cross will begin at 6:00 pm with a meatless meal to immediately follow in Craven Hall. Please join the Pro-Life and Young at Heart groups this Friday as they provide the final meal of the Lenten Season.

Camp St. Bernard on the campus of St. Bernard Prep School in Cullman, offers a wide range of traditional camp activities and programs for boys and girls ages 6-14.

Camp Saint Bernard’s goal is to provide a recreational setting in which campers can gain a deeper understand-ing of their relationships to their natural environment and their fellow man.

Day and boarding camps are available. Some of the activities available are archery, ceramics, fishing, arts & crafts, rappelling, basketball, kayaking, rock climbing and swimming.

As we approach Holy Week, the creative juices of the an-cient church of Jerusalem be-gin to shape our journey. In old Jerusalem at this season of the year, the attempt was made to recall the events leading up to Christ’s passion. Those attempts were based not only on time, with celebrations of events as close to the day and hour as possible, but also on people’s best guesses as to the actual place of these events. Vast numbers of pilgrims flooded the city during the forty days of Lent, many of them catechumens in their last stages of preparation for initia-tion. The fourth-century Span-ish nun Egeria wrote a delight-fully detailed diary of her ex-perience of this lively and aerobic liturgy which involved

Please consider helping to prepare the church for the Easter Season. Palm cleaning will begin this Friday at 9:00 am in Craven Hall. Easter decoration will start at 9:00 am on April 4th in the church.
