CONCEPTO

Structural Concept
Itis a structure formed by different elements all in reinforced concrete, with a suitable composition to withstand the saline environment and the effects of the contact with water. The suite consists of flat elements [vertical (pillars), horizontal (slabs) and oblique (ramps)] and volumetric [container pot] with various structural tasks. The vertical elements or tree shaped pillars are implanted in the river course. They support along with the abutments all other components. Its shape allows to incorporate a series ofintegrated reinforced concrete brakets , on which the ramps and the pot are supported.
Slabs are beared in the abutments and the pillars located atthe channel.
The ramps are supported in slabs and tree pillars. The pot is set in the three pillars. The structural system integrates all the elements mentioned above, and its combination will contribute to the global stability of the walkway. The structure does not allow horizontal or oblique loads atthe ends of the slabs, in tha case th e abutments only transmit vertical loads.
Main Structural Elements
1.- Abutments: they are part of the main structure and rely on the foundation (pile cap and deep piles).
2.- Main Structure: entirely made in reinforced concrete with the following components: tree shaped variable section pillars built on the canal´s riverbed. Constant width horizontal slabs that make up the deck and are supportive in the brackets of the tree pillars. The constant section sloped slabs are supported on the deck and in the tree pillars. The container pot are built with a concave slab (inverted Dome) supported by the tree pillars.
3.- Supports: in addition to the two brackets, the gateway has three reinforced concrete shielded walls located in the riverbed, in which are built flying brackets at different levels, forming a tree shaped bearing structure.
4.- Cantilever: the ramp system is supported by the deck slabs and the tree pillars project cantilever in some ofits sections. 5.- Structural Joints: the joints in the structure match the joints of the concrete that will guarantee the continuity of the armor.
Constructive Elements
1.- Abutments and supports in Earth: formed by the deep foundation of reinforced concrete.
2.- Supports in the water: three shielded stands of reinforced concrete, built with components resistantto the action of water and saline environment. Equally grounded on deep piles.
3.-Deck: built with wood planks for outdoor use in its original colour, finished with xylophagous and atmospheric agents protection varnish. The deck is supported in an auxiliary structure in stainless steel profiles anchored to the main horizontal slab of reinforced concrete.
4.- Ramps: Built with wood planks offor outdoor use in its original colour, finished with xylophagous and atmospheric agents protection varnish. The deck is supported in an auxiliary structure in stainless steel profiles anchored to the sloped slabs of reinforced concrete.
5.- Pot container: built with an inverted dome of reinforced concrete and equipped with systems ofirrigation, drainage and oxygenation for the vegetation. The pot will be waterproof to prevent leaks from irrigation and atmospheric precipitation. The glass contains several layers of Earth to allow the life of vegetation that is intended to plant. Earth will have more draining layers and minerals in the deepest part and most organic layers in the surface layer. The planned vegetation will be a grove of native species associated as a natural combination of trees and shrubs in the area.
6.-Railings: on the outside deck and the ramps it is a handrail in solid wood for outdoor use in its original colour, finished ith xylophagous and atmospheric agents protection varnish. The handrail will be secured to the concrete with stainless steel elements. The inside handrail on the ramp is a small wall of reinforce d concrete tied to the structure.
7.-Lighting: the functional lighting (white light projectors) will be integrated into the lower part of the pot. Ornamental lighting (linear white light lamp) will be integrated in the handrail. The rest of ornamental lighting, (blue light projectors) will be anchored in the tree pillars to illuminate the bridge from below to above and in the abutments of the walkway.
DESCRIPCIÓN TÉCNICA
Principio estructural

SYMBOL
The bridge is symbolized by the Hibiscus, or Flower of the Pacific, which repre-sents the flora at the Southern Islands.
SIGNING
The bridge provides two signaling elements. The medals and the landmark. MEDALS
The medals announce the bridge when the pedestrian approaches it to cross it.
The small medals overtake the roads. They only include the SYMBOL of the bridge that identifies its relation with the sea that it represents. In the bridge´s entrance, four other medals indicate the uses of the routes that cross the bridge: pedestrians, cyclists and skaters. The big medals are arranged at the starting line of the bridge. They also indicate the sea represented by the bridge inside the globe´s context, the bridge´s symbol and the icon of its shape, next to the year in which they were built. All the bridges with roof incoorporate as well in their structure a signal with the year of its construction. LANDMARK
The landmark contains touch-sensitive information that explains in convention-al language and for the blind, the meaning of the bridge and its reconvention-altion with the sea that it represents. The landmark also contains technical details about the bridge´s symbol (meaning, botany, weather, color). In addition. the landmark incoorporates an earphone that emits environmental sounds related to the own culture of the represented sea.
