EL FRUTO DEL ESPÍRITU
Como seguidores de Jesús, estamos llamados a orientar nuestras mentes y corazones hacia el amor de Cristo, apartándonos de todo aquello
que no es de Dios para parecernos más a Cristo en nuestra vida diaria . Cuanto más invitemos al Espíritu Santo a acercarnos al corazón de Dios, más fácilmente evitaremos el pecado y elegiremos la vida, la fe y el amor.
En la carta a los Gálatas, escuchamos una lista de cosas que deben evitar los que viven en el Espíritu. Cosas como la inmoralidad , el odio, los celos y el egoísmo. A primera vista, podemos pensar: “desde luego que quiero evitar
esas cosas” y, sin embargo, si somos honestos con nosotros mismos, probablemente reconozcamos algunos de estos patrones en nuestras vidas. Sin embargo, con un poco más de reflexión también veremos
que estos comportamientos negativos suponen un placer temporal y que los frutos del Espíritu, el amor, la alegría,
la paciencia, la bondad, la generosidad, la fidelidad, la mansedumbre y el autocontrol, guían a una vida de
plenitud profunda y duradera.

THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
As followers of Jesus, we are called to direct our minds and hearts to Christ’s love, turning away from all that is not of God in order to be more Christ-like in our daily lives. The more we invite the Holy Spirit to draw us close to God’s heart, the more readily we will avoid sin and choose life, faith, and love. In the letter to the Galatians, we hear a list of things that those who live in the Spirit
are to avoid. Things like immorality, hatred, jealousy, and selfishness. At first glance, we might think to ourselves, “of course I want to avoid those things,” and yet, if we are honest with ourselves, we
likely recognize some of those patterns in our lives.
Upon further reflection, however, we also see that these negative behaviors pose temporary pleasure
while the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—lead to a life of deep and
lasting fulfillment

MASS INTENTIONS
You are welcome to call or come into the office to request and pay your $10 donation for mass intentions throughout the week.
Mass Intentions are for up to (2) people per mass time, per day.
Please be aware that if you wish for your intention to appear in the bulletin, it needs to be submitted the TUESDAY of the
week before by 5 pm as we send the bulletin to print Wednesday morning.

Every first Saturday of the month there will be a special evening mass in honor of St. Joseph at 6pm. Throughout the month of May,
the rosary will be prayed during the Saturday weekly meetings from 6 - 7pm in the Big Church.

Fr. Charles has been reassigned as pastor at St. John the Evangelist parish in San Diego, CA. His last weekend with us here at Queen of Angels will be JUNE 20th. Pre- Baptismal Classes
If you will be baptizing at a different parish and need to attend the pre-baptismal class only, please come to the office with a copy of your
Roman Catholic Marriage Certificate (if married) or copies of your First Communion & Confirmation Certificates (if single), to fill out a
registration form. The donation fee for this class is $10 per person.

Registrations for the 2021 - 2022 Catechetical Year will begin in early July 2021.
All catechesis at Queen of Angels, including First Communion, Confirmation, RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) and RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) are 2 year programs.

Memorial of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
Mater Ecclesiae is Latin for “Mother of the Church.”
The theological roots of this title go back to the early Church.
The Fathers of the Church, holy and studious bishops of the first centuries, often spoke of Mary as the New Eve. Just as the Woman Eve was “the mother of all the living” (Gen. 3:20), the
Woman Mary was mother of all those living in Christ. In Revelation 12:17, St. John says that this Woman’s offspring are
“those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus.” The popularity of the specific expression
“Mother of the Church” grew especially in the 20th and 21st centuries. In 2018 Pope Francis added a feast day under this title for the Monday following the solemnity of Pentecost – considered the birthday of the Church. This year, the memorial
is on May 24. Pope St. John Paul II said, The title “Mother of the Church” … reflects the deep conviction of the Christian faithful, who see in Mary not only the mother of the person of Christ, but also of the faithful. She
who is recognized as mother of salvation, life and grace, mother of the saved and mother of the living, is rightly proclaimed Mother of the Church. The memorial of Mary,
Mother of the Church, is celebrated the Monday after Pentecost. On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate the birthday of
the Church, and on the memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church, Catholics celebrate the fact that Mary, as the mother of
Our Lord, is intrinsically linked to the Church as her mother.

Las raíces teológicas de este título se remontan a la Iglesia primitiva. Los Padres de la Iglesia, santos y estudiosos obispos
