Who Must Pay A Fare:

All persons must pay a fare unless under the age of 12 and accompanied by an adult

Senior/Disabled/Medicare Fares

Persons aged 65 and over, persons of disability and Medicare card holders, can ride Link Transit fixed route buses for up to one half of regular fare. To receive this fare, individuals must present either a Link Transit ID Card or a Medicare card with a photo ID to the driver when paying their fare.

Reduced fare monthly passes are available for those individu- als with a Reduced Fare ID Card.

You may obtain a Link Transit photo ID card at Columbia Station, Link Transit’s transfer facility, located at 300 S.

Columbia Street, Wenatchee, WA. 98801. The card will cost you $4.00. For additional information, contact Link Transit Guest Services at 509-662-1155.

Reduced fare ID cards may not be shared.

Youth Fares

Children aged five and under ride for free any time.

Youth ages 6 - 12 may ride for free when accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older) paying a fare or using a pass of any kind. There is a limit of four fare-free youth per adult. This does not include children under the age of 6.

Youth aged 6 - 12 NOT traveling with an adult must pay the same as an adult for cash fares and day passes.

The Student Freedom Pass (SFP) or Student Monthly Pass is available as an option to paying an Adult Fare (see page 2).

Carry On Policy

In addition to a purse or briefcase, small tote or laptop computer, you may bring on board: six plastic grocery bags or two “reuseable” grocery bags or one piece of luggage up to 40 lbs not to exceed 24” x 17” x 10” in size.

Additional items will require you to pay double the regular bus fare and allow you the use of one additional seat. Under no circumstances may carry-on’s occupy more than one seat.

Tarifas para personas Desabilitas, Ancianos y Medicare

Tarifas para Jovenes

Si llega con más bolsas o paquetes se le solicitará que pague el doble de su tarifa, asi podrá usar otro asiento. Por ninguna razón sus paquetes ocuparán más de un asiento adicional.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome on board Link Transit vehicles.

A Service Animal is any Guide Dog, or other animal trained to perform tasks for an individual with a disability.

Drivers may ask if the animal is a service animal and are authorized to ask what task the animal is trained to perform.

The animal will not be allowed if the guest refuses to answer these questions.

If you plan to travel with your Service Animal, please follow these guidelines:

• Your animal must be under your control at all times

• The animal must remain at your feet or on your lap and may not sit on a vehicle seat or in the aisle

• The animal must not show aggressive behavior towards people or other animals

Pets, emotional support, comfort, and/or therapy animals are welcome aboard when they:

• Are secured in enclosed carriers designed to carry animals and do not block the aisle or doorway

• Do not deprive a passenger of a seat

Wheelchair Securement

All Link Transit buses will accommodate mobility devices measuring up to 30”W x 48”L. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requires that securement systems be made available on buses with wheelchair securement areas.

Securement systems using seat and shoulder belts are front facing systems. This is an additional safety requirement which restrains wheelchairs in a way that limits the move- ment of an occupied mobility device. Seat and shoulder belts are mounted to the inside of the bus and serve the same function as seat belts in an automobile. Our coach operators will assist you with using these additional safety features however, a transit provider cannot require a passenger in a wheelchair to use a seat belt and shoulder harness.

Animales de Servicio

Aseguramiento de Silla de Ruedas

Todos los camiones de Link Transit están diseñados para acomodar dispositivos de movilidad que midan 30’A x 48’L.

El ADA (Acto de Americanos con Desabilidades) requiere que todos los sistemas de sujesción estén disponibles en todos los camiones con áreas de sujesción de la silla de ruedas.

Bus Service

Hours of Operation

Buses operate Monday through Sunday. Local buses begin service as early as 5:30 AM. Hours of operation vary by route.

Hours of service are shorter on weekends. See the timetables for specific times.

Commuter Routes 20, 24, 25, 26

Commuter routes serve outlying communities to provide access to urban centers, with a large portion of the route op- erating on highways at high speeds with limited stops. These routes are not subject to complementary paratransit service.

Guest Services

Columbia Station, 300 South Columbia Street

Columbia Station is open Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on holidays when there is no bus service.

Guest service is not staffed on Sundays.

Guest Services is located at Columbia Station. You can call them at 662-1155. Friendly people are ready to help make it easy for you to ride Link Transit. Tell them where you are, where you want to go, and when you want to arrive. They’ll do the rest.

Lost and Found

Did you leave something behind on a Link bus? Please call 509-662-1155 to report the lost item. Found items may be claimed at Columbia Station the following day, except Sun- days and holidays. See page 10 for more information.

Lost and Found

Found Items

Any items found on Link buses will be turned in at Guest Services, located at Columbia Station. All found items are logged and kept for 30 days except for perishable foods or unsanitary items which will be disposed of by the end of the day. After 30 days, items will be disposed of or donated to local charities.

Items of Value

If you have lost the following, we will do our best to locate your item as quickly as possible:

• Keys or phone

• Medication

• Purses/Wallet

• High dollar items staff deems locatable

We cannot contact drivers on routes while they are in service if your item is not one of those listed above. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Drugs or Drug Paraphernalia

Link Transit receives Federal Operating Funds and is subject to Federal law. Marijuana is still considered illegal under Federal law and therefore cannot be kept on premises and will be disposed of immediately.

Finding Lost Items

If you believe you have left an item on the Link Transit bus or on Link Transit properties, please contact Link Guest Services at 509-662-1155. We will try our best to locate it.

Item Pick-Up

If you believe you left an item on a Link Transit bus or on Link Transit properties it will be delivered to Guest Services and should be available for pick-up the next business day by 9:00 AM.

Bus Stops

Where Can You Catch the Bus?

In town, guests board the bus only at designated stops. These are clearly marked with a bus stop sign. Many bus stops also have benches and shelters to make your wait more comfort- able.

Do you need the bus to make a flag stop?

In some areas without established stops, guests may request

“flag stops.” However, Washington State Department of Transportation safety regulations prohibit the bus from stop- ping on Highway 2 between Olds Station and SR97/Blewett Pass cut-off.

To make a flag stop, pick a place where the bus can safely stop and pull off the road. Buses will not stop on curves, after the crest of a hill, or other areas where sight distance is greatly limited.

Signal the bus driver with an over-the-head wave. Use re- flective material or a small flashlight when it is dark. For your

own safety, choose a well-lit area.

When using a flag stop for getting off the bus, please give the driver advance notice that

you’ll be needing a flag stop.

At all times, the driver’s judgement regarding safety will determine whether

or not a stop will be made.

BikeLink

All full size Link buses are equipped with bike racks. These racks each carry two or three bikes, of all sizes and frame styles, except tandems. And the racks will be on the buses year round, so no matter what the weather, you can take your bike with you. Bikes can be loaded or unloaded independent- ly of each other.

Where to Load Your Bike

You may load and unload your bike at any Link Transit bus stop.

Additional Reminders

Remember - safety always comes first. Never step into the street side of the bus.

Have your bike ready to go as the bus approaches.

Remove water bottles, pumps or other items that might fall off your bike during a trip.

Your bicycle must be no larger than 80 inches long or 48 inch- es high. No motorized bikes

allowed. Tires must fit within the confines of the rack.

Bikes with child carriers or other bulky

attachments cannot be accomodated because of limited space and bike rack design.

Routes 21, and 22 can carry three bikes.

All other routes, including Wenatchee and East Wenatchee routes can accomodate two bicycles on a rack. Space is always on a first-come basis.

Riders are also responsible for loading and unloading their own bikes. Bikes are not allowed inside the bus.

Link is not responsible for any damages incurred to or caused by bicycles on transit system property, and is not liable for any damage to bicycles that are not loaded properly.

How To Use Token Transit

DOWNLOAD THE APP: Text TOKEN to 41411 for a download link.

PURCHASE: Select Link Transit from the list of transit agen- cies. You will need a credit card and an internet connection to purchase passes.

You may purchases tickets and passes in advance of when you need them, and activate them when you want to ride.

Single ride tickets are good for 30 minutes after activation, day passes are good until midnight and the monthly pass is valid for 31 days from the date of activation.

RIDE THE BUS: An internet connection is required to use your pass for the first time. Multi-day passes must be refreshed daily, so make sure to do before your first trip each day. Open the pass and show your phone screen to the coach operator when boarding.

SEND A PASS: If you need to buy a pass for someone who is unable to set up payment on their own, go to https://www.tokentransit.com/send, select the Link Transit logo and follow the instructions for selecting the correct pass and making payment. Note: The person receiving the texted bus pass must download the Token Transit app.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Open the app and tap the “person”

icon in the upper right corner of your screen. Tap “help”, and then tap “contact us”. Either text or email a description of the issue you are having to Token Transit and they will respond to you directly.

HAVING TROUBLE?: If your pass is failing to load when you open the app, it may be because you have cellular access disabled for the Token Transit app. Go into your settings and enable cellular service for this and that should take care of the problem.

Link Transit offers a Travel Training program for anyone who would like to use the fixed-route bus service in Chelan and Douglas Counties.

What is Travel Training?

Travel Training is a program developed to teach you how to use the fixed-route system. The most effective method of providing this type of instruction is on a one-to-one basis in a realistic environment.

There is no cost for Travel Training. You will learn how to read a transit schedule, how to plan a trip, and other important information to make riding the bus safe, easy and enjoyable.

Travel Training Tours

Gather your friends and book a travel training tour with Link!

Link staff have developed a series of fun excursions featuring North Central Washington destinations accessible by public transit. These free offerings using Link’s existing fixed-route system require a commitment of at least six individuals and can be scheduled upon request. Tours must occur during Link’s regular operating hours, which may differ depending on location and route.

Designed for preschoolers, school-age children and their caregivers.

• Story time at a library in Chelan or Douglas counties.

Meet up for cocoa and cookies and then board a bus to your nearest library story time.

• The Wenatchee Riverfront Railway has delighted young and old for 30 years. Ride the bus for a special day of train watching and embark on a train ride from Pear-A-Dise Station on the Apple Capital Loop trail.

• During the holiday season, ride the bus to the post office to drop off letters to the North Pole. Special scribe elves will be on hand to assist with letter writing. Candy canes and holiday greens round out the fun.

Designed for all ages, with kid-friendly versions available.

• A visit to one of several regional museums in Link’s service area including Leavenworth, Waterville, Entiat, Chelan or Wenatchee.

• Market Day field trip includes a visit to one of several regional outdoor or indoor markets and features crafts, games and a scavenger hunt.

• A trip to the Winnie the Pig sculpture garden is always a hit, especially in the spring when the flowers cared for by members of the Washington State University chapter of Master Gardeners are at their best.

• North Central Washington is rich with public art to explore. Take a ride on the bus to appreciate the array of offerings.

• Stoke your curiosity of the natural world by making sun prints and join a nature hike to Blackbird Island in Leavenworth.

• Join us on a trip to Wenatchee’s Memorial Park for a scavenger hunt and learn how memorials help to form a collective community memory.

• Liberty Orchards tour features free Aplets & Cotlets samples from the Cashmere company’s candy kitchen and a chance to see parts of the manufacturing process.
