“I believe that the UIC Barelona offers many advantages, very high quality teaching staff and facilities, and in addition, is constantly innovating and reinventing itself. It deals with each student in a very personalised way and enables us, through work with modern scientific articles, to be critical and really learn about the profession today. You also grow a lot through the work practice, both because of the volume and the high-quality, in preclinic and in the University Dental Clinic.”

Work placement agreements
As well as the 1,150 hours undertaken in the CUO from second year onwards, 5th year students have the opportunity to learn about other dentistry situations by doing curricular work placements in the following institutions:
— Fundació Privada Pro Persones amb Disminució Psíquica Catalònia (Fundació Catalònia).
— Terrassa Health Consortium.
We hold various agreements with different institutions;
the Dentistry for Solidarity Foundation and the Official Society of Dentists and Stomatologists of Catalonia to attend to patients who are at risk of exclusion brought in by the Red Cross. The aim of this is to promote an awareness of social responsibility among students in terms of the neediest groups or those at risk of social exclusion. We also hold agreements with SJD Barcelona Children’s Hospital, the General University Hospital of Catalonia, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Barcelona and Plató Hospital.
The Faculty also encourages extracurricular work placement agreements in order to facilitate the incorporation of students into the world of work.

— Two image diagnosis rooms, with 3 3D x-ray machines to do orthopantomographies, lateral and frontal teleradiographies of the cranium and CTs.
— Treatment planning room.
— Electronic storage in order to deliver and collect material.
— Service to sterilise the tools and equipment used.
— Recent acquisition of virtual reality simulation equipment (Simodont).
With this step, virtual reality is introduced in the pre-clinical practices of students, helping to improve their training and is also a great tool as a new teaching methodology. It is another step in the innovation and improvement of the training of students.
