Methodology
The method used is the communicative one, which brings out the communicative aspect of the language.
The course follows the principles of modern didactics of living languages, which gives emphasis to culture.
During the course active learning and exchange of ideas and information about other cultures are encouraged, while the experienced of the participants are incorporated into the training. The above
mentioned methodology is implemented via a daily schedule which includes two hours of language instruction, and three hours of cultural activities. This additional programme of activities is considered as an inextricable part of the course, since it provides the participants with a better understanding of
contemporary Greeks and contemporary Greek culture.
Programme
One or Two-week programmes available for the A1-A2, B1-B2 or C1-C2 levels (same start dates)
2 hours of language lesson daily
Presentation of Athens and sightseeing ‘dive’
Visit to a non-governmental organization where Greek is taught to immigrants and refugees
Greek singing lesson
Visits to museums
Cultural Presentations
Greek Film show (2 week seminar only)
Greek cooking class (2 week seminar only)
Interview with a native speaker - a
professional living and working in Athens (2 week seminar only)

The Hellenic Culture centre is located in the centre of Athens, at Victoria Square and Metro Station.
Museums and universities are in close reach as well as some of the main attractions in Athens. The centre has two large classrooms, a book library and a CD/DVD library.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
All courses have been approved to the Comenius-Grundtvig training database (http://ec.europa.eu/education/trainingdatabase/).
Participants from outside Greece may receive an individual grant under the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (In Service Training Grants) to cover their expenses.

The programmes take place at HOTEL ZAIRA (www.hotelzaira.gr) in Skala Loutron, a village located at the south east of Lesvos. Skala Loutron is 8 km away from Mytilene, the capital of the island. Lesvos is connected by airplane with Athens and Thessaloniki, and by ferry with Piraeus.
