TILE CELLS TIMING.

April bulk VS May reprocesing: Run 153563 -> Stream L1Calo Data in periods A-C: D3PDs used in WW studies.

New data: Run 160387 (more than 10M of events) -> Stream L1Calo

Applied cuts on data:

Cells:

Energy cut -> E_cell > 600 MeV No gap/crack regions

No bad channels for TileCal cells Topoclusters:

Energy cut: E_topocluster > 3 GeV Jets:

Energy cut: Et_jet > 10 GeV Eta cut: |Eta|_jet < 2

Quality of the jet: Qual_jet > 0.8

2

NEW: For new data results I required events with almost 1 primary vertex!!

(3)

Tile cells in jets

for Ecell > 1GeV and Etjet > 20 GeV

April bulk proc -> MEAN= 0.013 RMS= 4.55 May reproc -> MEAN= 0.25 RMS= 2.33

TILE CELLS TIMING. Old results: April bulk VS May reprocesing

Run: 153565 April Bulk processing:

data10_7TeV.00153565.physics_L1Calo.recon.ESD.f251

May reprocessing:

data10_7TeV.00153565.physics_L1Calo.recon.ESD.r1297

Time distribution for Tile cells in jets is much better in May reprocessing:

- Most of tails are removed.

- Tile experts are studying outliers with

|t| > 15ns.

ET VS FRACTION OF TILE TOPOCLUSTERS AFTER TIMING CUTS

|Eta| [0, 0.7] & 0.2<EMfrac<0.6

4

Run: 155112 May reprocessing Run: 153565 April bulk processing

- Number of Tile clusters with t>5 ns is smaller in May reprocessing.

- The efficiency for clusters with t<-5 ns in run 155112 (May repro) is bigger for the lower Et bins because there is a global negative shift between these two runs. This red

distribution for run 155112 (May repro) is consistent with the region in|Eta| [0.7,1.4] (see next page).

ET VS FRACTION OF TILE TOPOCLUSTERS AFTER TIMING CUTS

|Eta| [0.7, 1.4] & 0.2<EMfrac<0.6

Run: 155112 May reprocessing

- Fraction of Tile clusters with t>5 ns is much better in May reprocessing .

- The efficiency for clusters with t<-5 ns in run 155112 (May repro) is bigger than for the run 153565 (April bulk proc) caused by the global shift but it is similar to the distribution that we showed on page 5 for |eta| [0,0.7] for the same run: 155112.

Run: 153565 April bulk processing

JET TIMING. April bulk VS May reprocesing

May reprocessing:

Time distribution for Tile cells in jets is much better in May reprocessing.

- Most of negative tails are removed.

- Jets with biggest timing are not produced by TileCal:

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data: Run 162690. Event selection: vxp

For this run there is a event selection-> Only events with collisions!

Long tails in Tile cells timing distribution are removed  (remember the last Tcell distribution on page 14).

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data:

Run 162690. Event selection: vxp

Time of all the jets

Time of jets in TileCal region

Time of TileCal cells in jets Time of all

the jets

We need more runs in order to increase the stadistics.

More jobs are running on the GRID…

Jets with biggest time values are not produced by tilecal

I can check if these group of cells with |t| > 10 ns, are D3 cells.

11

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data: Run 162690. Event selection: vxp

TILE REGION 0.2<EMFrac<0.6 Most of the jets with |t| > 5 ns are not produced by Tile.

The profile distribution shows that the Tjet for jets in the tile region is about -0.5 ns.

TILE REGION 0.2<EMFrac<0.6

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data: Run 162690. Event selection: vxp

TILE REGION 0.2<EMFrac<0.6

Only the 10% of the jets with |t| > 5 ns are in the TileCal region!

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE DISTRIBUTIONS FOR PISA WORKSHOP

- I didn’t apply the cut on D3 cells -> look at Alberto’s slides: Do you think that it should be maden also for the study of the jets and topoclusters timing for TileCal?

- Has anybody any distribution in mind that I didn’t show in this talk? New ideas would be welcome 

- Tomorrow, if all is ok on the GRID, I will update slides 9, 10 and 11 with more stadistics. I will send you the results by email.

PROGRESS IN WW STUDY

I try to make a filter and merge of the new data that we have in order to reduce the spended time of the job.

Actually, I debug the new code. After that, I would like to check with Xifeng all the cut flow numbers…

The idea is to make the QCD extraction for WW using the ‘MET method’.

See Bruce’s slides:

http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=6&resId=0&materialId=slides&con fId=99749

I will show results using all the data in the next group meeting.

BACK-UP: RECALL OF YESTERDAY RESULTS

IN THE TIMING STUDY (without event

selection requirement: primary vertex)

(16)

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data: Run 162690

Tile cells Tile cells in topoclusters

There are some noisy Tile cells with big time values that are not in topoclusters or jets (see Tile cells in jets distribution on page 10).

(17)

Tile cells in jets

TILE CELLS TIMING. New data: Run 162690

In the Tile region (0.2<EMFrac<0.6): time of the cells is very close to 0.

Time of the cells in jets distribution shows a good mean value (0.8 ns) and a small RMS (2.7 ns) but there are still some cells out of time.
