The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a cellular complex located at the brain microvasculature, which regulates the exchange of different molecules between the cerebral parenchyma and the blood stream, which can be disrupted during the infection with neurotropic viruses such as Zika virus (ZIKV). becomes, which encephalitis, microcephaly and autoimmunity (Guillain-Barré syndrome). The main ZIKV target cell is the monocyte, when activated, released different types of extracellular vesicles (EVs). We used knockout mice for the PRL receptor (KO) infected with Plasmodium berghei ANKA, as control we used wild-type mice infected with the same parasite and parasitemia and the expression of TNF-α and IL-10 in brain and hippocampus measured. KO mice developed lower parasitemia than wild type mice. Interestingly, infection reduced the mRNA expression of TNF-α in the brain of both KO and wild type mice. This cytokine was expressed in a dimorphic manner. We did not detect the expression of IL-10 in the brain or hippocampus in KO or wild-type mice infected with P . The results suggest that PRL reduced the immune response associated with higher parasitemia. This work was supported by DGAPA IN220417. Previously, we have shown that the deficiency of circulating AVP and oxytocin induced by neurointermediate pituitary lobectomy in rats prevents or significantly reduces arthritic inflammation in the adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) paradigm. Here we evaluate the immune response in the AIA rats treated with antagonists or agonists of AVP receptors (r).

Understanding the immunomodulatory mechanisms of nucleotides in human macrophages may help develop new therapeutic strategies for immune diseases and inflammation. These results suggest that the effects of extracellular ATP in human macrophages could be mediated by the receptors formed by the P2X1 and P2X1del subunits or by heteromeric receptors.
