“Yeast: A Model Organism for Biomedical Research”

May 23-24, 2012 Oviedo (Spain)

In this symposium an important number of the most relevant international experts in using yeast as a model organism for biomedical research will meet to discuss the recent advances in the understanding of the mechanisms involved in several pathological situations and how this knowledge may be applied to develop new therapeutic approaches.

Some of the aspects which will be discussed in detail include yeast system as a model to study:

 Diabetes biology.

 Mitochondrial diseases.

 Neurodegenerative diseases.

 Cancer biology.

 Aging biology.

 Pathogenic Yeasts.
