To find out the advantages of the language laboratories for the effective teaching and learning of oral English in junior secondary schools. How does the use of language laboratory improve the auditory performance of the students in the area.

Ihenacho (2001) lamented that the non-existence of language laboratory in Nigeria has hampered the effective teaching and learning of oral English. Therefore, the issue of the language laboratory is an established approach to teaching English, especially oral English. Most English teachers are conservative and find it difficult to apply different methods in teaching the language.

Due to a lack of organized blending of teaching methods, students do not actively participate in learning the language. Just as Fadiran (2007) and Echatabu (2004) called the language laboratory a kind of training field, the use of the language laboratory is based on the understanding of the nation. The main advantages of using the language laboratory are that it provides practice in the spoken language.

The language laboratory, with the cooperation of the teacher, could create good basic speech habits that would lead to acceptable pronunciation". Secondly, one of the problems is the lack of qualified teachers to work with the language laboratory. A conscious study of the related literature reveals the many influences of the language laboratory on the effective learning of English as a second language (oral English).

The language laboratory is there to help detect and correct the errors caused by the interference of the Muses in the mother tongue. The interference of the native language takes place in the phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics of the English language. According to Aremu (2012), English language is a means of communication just like any other language in the world.

Abdullahi (2012) also opined that English language is the language that was introduced in some countries of the world. It is therefore logical that this is the position where the various problems arising from teaching and learning the Language come together. And the instrument that can achieve this proper teaching and learning of the English language is the language laboratory.

With the help of the language lab, these things can be corrected through repeated oral exercises.
