Lengthy post alert. Thanks to anyone up for the challenge!

I need help setting up GA4 on a primary domain (example.com) and a subdomain (subname.example.com), which my client wants to track separately.

I thought used the appropriate setup in GTM, yet something seems off.

Using Tag Assistant/Preview Mode from GTM, tags fire as expected. If I view a page on the primary domain, the primary domain GA4 config tag fires. If I view a page on the subdomain, the subdomain GA4 config tag fires.

However -- If I go into debug view on either GA4 property, I see events coming in from both the primary domain and the subdomain.

Debug also shows events multiple times even if I'm only triggering them once. In the attached screenshots, note that both properties show multiple 25% scrolls in debug view, yet I only scrolled once.

Some info on my setup:
GTM - The same container is on the primary domain and the subdomain, with triggers set to only fire the right tags on each
GA4 - Separate properties, data streams and measurement IDs for the primary domain and the subdomain
Google Tag - Both GA4 properties reference the same Google Tag - might this be the issue?

Shakib Hasan Thanks for your response. I'll take a closer look at the shared Google Tag as I continue to diagnose.

seeing multiple events is due to a bug in ga4.
