Good afternoon
I have a problem with the dates and I cant solve it at all… I receive my data from one csv file that has the date like D/M/YYYY and Power BI has the standard from USA like M/D/YYYY. When I tried to extract the months names I get like: 12/9/2018 -> December. But I need that month to be September and not December (because the data that I extracted is from September and not from December). Every sites that I search to solve this have the same solution, In the date column change type using locale and then put Senegal as my locale. However the only change that I got is that instead of get my month name in English (September) is in French. The logical part of switching the month with the day does not happen.
How can I put the Power BI to understand that my data is like D/M/YYYY and not like M/D/YYYY.
Thank you!
You can change date format in 2 ways 1.click on date column and change using locale then choose date format with the locale you want 2.split column by delimiter and merge columns using merge columns according to your required date format and specify separator and add new column name change data type to date
I even tried a test, wrote 12/09/2018 in excel, then imported to Power BI, changed the locale and still the problem is there. Power BI still read and interpret that as December and not as September
Thats weird. Change type using locale should work exactly as you need.
As a workaround you could convert the field to text, then have a separate date column to sort on.
