In vitro dissolution studies: Release of drug from the matrix tablets varied according to the type and ratio of matrix- forming polymer. The formulation containing HPMC K4M shows more cumulative drug release rate than HPMC K15M. The results of in vitro studies indicated that the rate and extent of drug release decreased significantly (p < 0.05) with an increase in polymer concentration, which may be attributed to increase in the density of polymer matrix followed by increasing diffusional path length for drug molecules. In comparison to HPMC K4 tablet, HPMC K15 tablets exhibited significant sustaining effect on drug release. This might be due to more viscosity and high molecular weight of HPMC K15 in addition to its slower rate of erosion and more swelling than HPMC K4. The formulation M1 have maximum cumulative drug release rate and M8 have least cumulative drug release rate in matrix tablets. Results are shown in the figure 2. The in vitro drug release from marketed product Fenac SR were compared and observed that the product is not following the USP standards for extended release tablets.

Theophylline controlled release matrix tablets were prepared with guar gum in two ratios and with three different hardness of 5, 6 and 7kg/cm 2 . Theophylline controlled release granules were prepared and evaluated for the angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index and hausners ratio. All the formulation showed good flow properties. The compressed tablets were evaluated for the hardness, uniformity of weight, friability, drug content and invitro dissolution studies. All the formulations showed compliance with pharmacopial standards. There was no interaction between drug, polymer and other excipients. It was confirmed by FTIR studies. Among all the formulations F6 (i.e. polymer ratio1:2 and hardness 7kg/cm 2 ) showed prolong release when compare to other formulations. The drug release kinetics showed zero order. The optimum formulation (F6) was stable when it was stored at 4 0 + 2 0 C, 28 0 + 2 0 C and at 45 0 + 2 0 C for 6 months.

1. Eudragit S-100 (F3) showed the lowest drug release rate (only 70 % delivered after 10 h), being the polymer with the least swelling properties and becoming soluble only at pH 7. Eudragit L-100 matrix tablets (F4) showed a rather linear release profile (92% delivered after 10 h). Evidently, in this case the progressive lengthening of the drug diffusion path way was almost counterbalanced by the increase in polymeric matrix solubility at intestinal pH. However, unfortunately, the release behavior from these matrices was not well reproducible, as shown by the error bars, probably due to the irregular erosion process of the matrix.

Sustained release matrix tablets of ambroxol hydrochloride of different drug: polymer ratios, such as F-1(1:1), F- 2(1:1.5) and F-3 (1:2). Xanthan gum was used as matrix former and microcrystalline cellulose was used as diluent. Granules were prepared and evaluated for loose bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index, hausners ratio and angle of repose. All the granules were lubricated and compressed using 9mm fl at-faced punches. Compressed tablets were evaluated for uniformity of weight, content of active ingredient, friability, hardness and In-vitro dissolution. All the formulations showed compliance with Pharmacopoeial standards. F-3 showed the sustained release of drug for 12 hours with 97.3% release and the release profi le was close to the marketed sample of ambroxol hydrochloride (A-MS) and Stability studies were performed as per ICH guide. The drug release follows zero order kinetics (0.9661) and the mechanism was found to be diffusion coupled with erosion.

The Matrix’ agents, the Smiths, are like the mythical dragons which multiply their heads once the neck is cut by the hero’s sword. But not the human being made the consequent, consistent and systematic attempt to safe the planet – which he destroyed. Here is a twisted retribution: The Matrix, paralyses nature’s destroyer and abuses the human race as humans had abused nature before. For humans the Matrix is an evil God or a machine-Devil. For nature, machines – artificial creations like those which had previously destroyed it – now become the unlikely ally, since the human race is the terminal disease of the planet by both accounts. To take it one step further, perhaps the human race is even a sexually transmitted disease, since overpopulation and the accompanying destruction of nature were only possible by human procreation…. until the Matrix stops this procreation and replaces it by artificial but controlled and systematic fertilization. course of the film. Yet it is on precisely this score that the con- clusion of the film is highly ambiguous. Part of the problem here is that in many ways The Matrix opts for the typical Hollywood action-film ending, with the super-hero taking on a slew of evil- doers. Of course, the sophisticated technology of The Matrix renders its denouement more creative and more subtle than the endings of films in the Die Hard or Terminator genre. Still, the film has been rightly celebrated more for its special effects than its crafting of plot and character. As Neo comes to transcend the constraints of the ordinary human body and begins to exercise powers possessed by comic-book super-heroes, improved tech- nique overshadows the quintessentially human traits that Neo has had to develop to prepare to wage war against the Matrix. Until the final battle Neo seems quite vulnerable, resisting and then only gradually accepting his role in the fate of human- ity. Even when he elects to risk everything to battle against the Matrix, the outcome remains in suspense. In the pivotal fight with the Agent in the subway, he is shot and apparently dead. Trinity, revealing the Oracle’s prophecy that she would fall in love with the One, insists, “you can’t be dead because I love you.” She kisses Neo, and when he revives, she chides him, “Now get up.” Although we have had hints all along of a grow- ing attachment between Neo and Trinity, the relationship is insufficiently developed to carry this sort of dramatic weight. And this is a serious flaw in the film. Why? The way to overcome the threat of nihilism in The Matrix is through the recovery of distinctively human traits and ways of living. Central among these traits is the sense of human beings as distinct individuals capable of loyalty, love, and sacrifice. Whereas the characters of Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus are complex, different, and com- plementary, the Agents of the Matrix are impersonal, generic, and interchangeable. Is not this the significance of the name “Smith” for the Agent who spends the most time on screen?
