Bus Discipline Procedures
Although they should be nice to everyone, it is unrealistic to expect them to be close friends with every child they know and to be invited to every function or event. If a parent/guardian disagrees with bus discipline, they may request an administrative review from the Director of Transportation to ensure policies and procedures are being followed.
Campus Community Service
If the regional supervisor determines that the alleged misconduct warrants a consequence of bus suspension, the parent/guardian must be notified that the student is being suspended from the bus. Suspension may not be imposed if the violation was witnessed by the driver, the student admitted, or an investigation by the regional supervisor/campus administrator was conducted to verify the facts.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Limited information for your child consisting of first name, last name, date of birth, username and email address may be provided to the online resource for the purpose of ensuring confidential credentials and access for the student. This information will remain confidential and will not be shared except for the provision of online programs solely for the benefit of students and the school system.
Classroom Management Plans
The law allows schools like those in DVUSD to consent to the collection of this information on behalf of all of their students, eliminating the need for individual parental consent given directly to each website provider. In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), verifiable parental consent is required for students under the age of thirteen (13) when accounts containing this information are created for them on third-party websites or online services.
Commencement/Promotion Ceremonies
Outside individuals and companies will not be able to communicate with children in these grades. Under no circumstances will student information be used by third party websites for commercial purposes.

Due Process-Suspension/Expulsion Disciplinary Record Keeping
Written confirmation of the hearing officer's decision must be mailed or delivered to the student's parent(s) within five (5) days of the hearing. The board will consider a hearing if there is a complaint about the hearing consultant's recommendation for expulsion from the parent.

Food & Nutrition
Maricopa County Environmental Services states that only items purchased in the store may be served in the classroom. The items purchased in the store should not require refrigeration and should arrive sealed in the classroom.
Gang Activity Or Association
Students and parents can bring and serve fruits and vegetables that will be washed and cut in the classroom for immediate serving. The food you bring will be placed at the office for collection at the end of the school day.
General Behavioral Expectations
Hazing
Professional staff members must report the incident to the school administrator or next higher administrative supervisor, in writing, with such details as may be provided. The staff member will maintain the confidentiality of those involved, disclosing the incident only to the appropriate school administrator or next higher administrative supervisor or as otherwise required by law.
Homeless Students
Any reported or observed hazing incident, including possible child abuse or violations of laws known to the staff member, will be handled in accordance with legal requirements and reported to a law enforcement agency. All violations of this policy will be handled in accordance with the applicable procedures and penalties established in the district policy regarding the conduct and discipline of students, staff, and others.

Early Decision – The Arizona Department of Education will provide trained staff to assist both the district and parent/guardian in resolving the issues. State Complaint - The Arizona Department of Education provides trained investigators to review all records when a parent/guardian files a state complaint in writing.
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act – IDEA Student Discipline
Mediation – The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) will provide a facilitator trained in the mediation process to assist both the district and parent/guardian in resolving issues. If the behavior is not caused by or substantially related to the disability, suspension and/or expulsion may occur.
Injunctions Against Harassment
However, the student's educational program will be reviewed and revised and the multidisciplinary review team may determine a change in placement/location of services. If the student is determined to pose a threat to the educational environment, the district may remove the student from the educational environment until due process is completed.
Internet & E-Mail User Agreement
The delivery of the educational program may occur through placement on an alternative campus, self-contained public, self-contained private and/or residential setting, or home setting, as determined by the IEP team. If the parent(s)/guardian(s) disagree with the findings of the IEP conference, they may pursue administrative remedies available to them under IDEA.
Interviews, Searches, & Arrests
Investigations will take place outside the presence of other students and in a private space. When an extreme emergency requires a more intrusive investigation of a student, the district/school official should contact the local law enforcement agency.

School staff work with the clerk to locate the student at school. School officials will notify parents/guardians of the arrest or, if necessary, explain the release of custody by the school and the student's location, if known, unless requested by a peace officer.

Retention & Promotion-Parent Or Legal Guardian Information
Notwithstanding section 38, chapter 3, article 3.1, the board shall review a teacher's decision to promote a student to a grade or retain a student in a grade in a common school or to pass or fail a student in a course in the high school school in board meeting, unless a parent or guardian of the student or the student, if emancipated, disagrees with the review being conducted in the board meeting, and then the review must be conducted in open meeting. Within five days of notification of intent to retain or promote, parent or guardian completes a retention appeal form or a promotion appeal form, submits it to the school secretary, and schedules a meeting with the principal.

The allegation must be made within thirty (30) calendar days from the time the student knew or should have known that there was a basis for the complaint/complaint. Any question as to whether the complaint/grievance falls within this policy will be determined by the Supervisor.
Student Records Directory Information
The person receiving the complaint shall maintain the confidentiality of the subject matter and disclose it only to the appropriate school administrator or next higher administrative supervisor or as otherwise required by law. Student Responsibilities

Threat Management Process
The school principal or designee shall immediately notify the district office of threats of targeted violence. The school administrator or designee will forward all level 4 and 5 threat assessments to the district office.
Victim Assistance
If the campus team assesses the situation as a Category 1 (no risk), the school administrator or designee issues an appropriate disciplinary outcome and the student is returned to the classroom consistent with that outcome. After the district reviews the threat, the school administrator or designee determines the threat level status and creates a Student Safety Plan if the student returns to campus.
Visitors To School
The student should tell someone he or she trusts who is able to help them. If the student does not feel that he or she can report the bullying or threat in person, he or she must write a note explaining the situation.
