This Addendum shall and does hereby become a part of the construction documents for the above Project.

The General Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that their Subcontractors are properly apprised of the contents of this Addendum. All information contained in this Addendum shall supersede and shall take precedence over any conflicting information in the original bid documents.

PRE-BID CONFERENCE

1. A Pre-Bid Conference was held at 1:00 PM on July 14, 2017 at the Town of Cary offices. The minutes are attached to this Addendum. Note that minutes were listed as an attachment but not attached to Addendum-01.

CHANGES TO THE DOCUMENTS

1. C300 & C400: Provide waterproof enclosure at new 1.5” RPZ backflow preventer for code compliant installation in flood prone area.

2. Base bid scope of work shall include child height handrails on both side of the existing ramp and existing site stair. Handrail shall match existing and be installed 9”-10” below existing handrail. All current

accessibility requirements shall be met, including required handrail extensions and returns at the ends of each run.

1. General

 Introductions

 The requirement for mandatory attendance at the pre-bid conference has been waived by the Town of Cary.

2. Project Circumstances

 Public project – The project is to adhere to North Carolina State Construction Office and Town of Cary requirements.

 Bid Documents – Bid documents have been provided to bidders in .pdf format via email.

 Schedule, Start/Completion dates

 Addendum 01: To be issued with pre-bid minutes.

 Receipt of all bidder questions and substitution requests: By close of business, Wednesday, July 26, 2017.

 Substitution requests to be submitted in writing.

 Final Addendum: Anticipated to be issued on or before Friday, July 28, 2017.

 Receipt of Bids: 1:30 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017. This is a firm date. No extensions of the bid period are anticipated.

 Construction Start: Approx. September 5, 2017 (pending contract preparation and execution)

 Construction Duration, Base Bid: 130 calendar days (18 1/2 weeks) 3. Relationships

 Owner – The Owner will be represented during construction by Town of Cary, Reid Saunders.

 Tenant – The operator will be represented and project funded by the Town of Cary Parks.

 Designer/consultants – New City Design Group, Maple Engineering, Summit Engineering, and Timmons Group are the designers of record.

2 4. Project Overview

Summary – The MacDonald Woods Park Restroom Addition is located at 1601 Seabrook Avenue, Cary, NC, 27511. The selected contractor shall provide lump sum, bid pricing to build the new MacDonald Woods Restroom Facility. Base Bid involves installation of a “family bathroom” in the existing, undeveloped area of the park. As designated in the construction documents, the scope of work involves installation of new foundations, wood & metal supporting structures, wood framed exterior walls, metal roof system, and unconditioned single toilet space with plumbing fixtures and toilet accessories. Bid Alternates are outlined below in the agenda.

5. Site Considerations

 Protection of work, property, public & pedestrian access – The project site is in an active, occupied town park. Existing construction, including existing drives, sidewalks and adjacent buildings are frequently used and shall remain safe for use by the public and passable at all times.

 Parking/ Storage – No special provisions. Must be coordinated with the Town of Cary and otherwise limited to what can accommodated within the project area.

 Utilities – Utility tie-ins must be scheduled in advance to minimize interruptions to services.

 Access/security and work hours – To be coordinated with the Owner. Work shall be performed during normal business hours. The Town of Cary will provide a schedule of events for the amphitheater. Construction activity shall be scheduled to not impact amphitheater operations.

 Smoking – Not allowed on the construction site.

 Trash/recycling – Shall be disposed of legally off site. Contractors may not make use of the Owner’s receptacles, dumpsters, etc.

6. Additional Contractors Responsibilities

 Substitutions – As a publicly bid project, three equal manufacturers have been provided where possible. Substitution requests shall be submitted only by a contract bidder during the bid period prior to the final scheduled addendum. Substitutions shall not be accepted after the bid.

 Minority Business Contractors – The use of minority contractors is encouraged.

 Project Completion Procedures – The General Contractor shall be responsible for scheduling all required inspections in accordance with the overall project schedule.

 Record Drawings, O&M Manuals – The General Contractor shall maintain a set of record drawings on the project site for documenting any changes or deviation from the contract documents and prepare O&M manuals.

7. Alternate(s)

 Scope Alternates

- Alternate No. 1: Provide composite recycled plastic decking in lieu of base bid pressure treated wood 5/4 planks.

- Alternate No. 2: Provide natural stone veneer cladding to match existing site walls where indicated at concrete foundation walls.

 Preferred Brand Alternates – N/A
