The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage resulting from non-observance of the safety instructions. Do not expose the device to excessive heat caused by placing it on a heating device or in direct sunlight. The memory card must always be formatted in the device to ensure that the format is correct.
Set the volume to a moderate level and do not use headphones to listen for long periods of time. Don't turn up the volume so loud that you can't hear what's going on around you. The manufacturer guarantees compliance with the maximum volume of its audio players as determined by relevant regulatory authorities, but only with the supplied original model of headphones.
The use of the device's recording function is subject to the legal restrictions that may apply in your country. Please note that some individual components may not be included in the delivery with your model.

Before recording phone calls, check whether the use of such data is legal in your country. For optimal sound quality, participants should be no further than two meters from the microphone. If recording is required in larger rooms or in meetings with a larger number of participants, the recording range can be increased by connecting up to three meeting microphones.
Connecting to a computer
Transferring files from or to the device
You can use File Explorer to access device data without installing additional software. It will automatically appear as a mass storage device in the same way as a USB memory stick or USB card. 3 Copy or move files to your computer or delete files to archive recordings and free up space on the device.
Do not disconnect the device from the computer while files are being transferred to or from the device (the status LED indicator flashes orange when data is being transferred). If you want to delete all data, use the Format memory function (see also chapter 10.1.2 Memory formatting, page 51). The device supports music files in the formats WMA and MP3, which can be transferred from the computer to the Music folder of the device.
Disconnecting from a computer
The device offers many features that you can use while recording or to improve the quality of a recording. Index marks can be used to mark specific points in a recording as reference points.
Record settings
- Recording using an external microphone
- Add index marks
- Recording using the Zoom function (DVT6000 – DVT8000)
- Using the pre-recording function
The pre-record feature allows you to record the last five seconds before pressing the record button. The current recording session stops and the last three seconds of the recording are played. Add index marks: Press INDEX/a during recording to add index marks (see also chapter 5.1.2 Adding index marks, page 27).
To prevent files from becoming too large during a long recording, a meeting that e.g. lasts several hours, you can automatically divide recordings (see also chapter 9.1.12 Setting automatic division, page 44). The size of the memory depends on the location folder and the quality of a recording (see also chapter 9.1.3 Setting the recording quality, page 39). If the recording time or number of files exceeds the available capacity, recording stops and a message is displayed.
Delete the recordings you no longer need, or connect the device to a computer and transfer the files to your computer. The device is powered via the USB cable when it is connected to the computer and the battery is not draining. DVT6000 – DVT8000: Press the F1/F2 keys to enter the microphone sensitivity and recording quality settings menu in stop mode.
If you connect an external microphone to the device, the recording source will automatically switch and the device's microphone will be muted. When you connect a mono microphone or an amplified recording source (eg a stereo system) to the microphone port, you must set the external source (see also chapter 9.1.14 Select an external sound source, page 45). Use the zoom function to focus on the front microphone and filter sounds from the side.
This allows you to record a lecture or speech at a great distance (see also chapter 9.1.4 Setting the microphone sensitivity, page 39). 1 Activate the advance recording function (see also chapter 9.1.9 Enable/disable the advance recording function, page 42).
