This video in DVD format contains 65, made for TV, one‐minute, 15‐second moves that will improve
coordination, balance, agility, strength, and overall fitness levels. Choose from four themes ‐ Hip Hop, Latin, Athletic, and African moves, or set at random for activity sessions that can be as long as you choose. Judy Howard includes a different health hint with each move to encourage kids to choose a healthy active lifestyle. This is a good physical education and dance resource that provides basic skills and ideas for building sequences. Good range of moves from simple to challenging are provided. This DVD can be used in a classroom setting or in any large empty space. Suitable for increasing students movement repertoire, and for creating sequences to music. VHS format is also available, but has not been evaluated.

activ8 is a physical activity challenge program based on the Ontario curriculum. At each grade level, the activ8 program consists of eight lessons that culminate in a Challenge Day. The lessons are designed to promote physical activity as an important and enjoyable part of studentsʹ daily lives. The eight lessons cover a range of physical activities emphasizing movement, skills, concepts and fitness. Activities are innovative, and encourage individual, partner, and group work. Appendices include suggested adaptations for students with special needs, safety considerations, proper form for activities, stretching activities, assessment and evaluation suggestions, and ideas for community
involvement. The resource is not intended to replace a full program. All challenges are modifiable and emphasize personal, individual development. Resource is useful for both generalist teachers and PE specialists.

This 600‐page soft over comprehensive text is divided into two core parts and seven sections. Part I is of minimal value to the generalist PE teacher as it is focussed on teacher education. Part II is very helpful for both generalist and specialist teachers as it provides the following sections: Personal Health Skills; Fundamental Motor Skills; and Specialised Motor Skills. While the Sports Skills Section has value, there are better resources recommended for specific sports. Chapter 6 offers 50 ways of looking at student assessment.
