immunotherapeutic strategies for transplantation purposes in preclinical models. Recently, the first clinical trials using infusion of ex vivo selected nTreg and ex vivo generated iTreg have been started in stem cell transplantation recipients. These studies will provide crucial information about the safety and clinical potential of Treg infusion immunotherapy. However, issues regarding the identification of stable Treg, and in vivo behavior of these cells upon infusion remain to be elucidated. Also, technical limitations regarding GMP Treg isolation still challenge successful application of Treg based therapies.
