I observed in reading today's DRAA submission that the Planning Department registered no objections to the project. I wanted, therefore, to be sure that the Planning Department was aware of some of the many written objections that have been communicated about this project, either to the Planning Depertment itself, to
Supervisor Mandelman’s office and or to the project architects, in advance of today’s hearing. There are many more neighbors on Seward and Carson streets who are willing to signal their objections as well.
In addition to the DR requestors, I am aware that you have received notes of objection from Peter Fatooh of 54 Seward Street and Mila Caceres of 71 Seward Street. Nanette Miller and Olga of 74 Seward Street have confirmed their objections in writing to Supervisor Mandelman’s office. Tom Signore of 53 Seward Street has also confirmed his objections in writing to Supervisor Mandelman’s office (e-mail below). James Pincow and Robert McNamara have also confirmed their written objections to Supervisor Mandelman’s office.
Objections from CarsonStreet:
Chris Screnci, 32 Carson Street, who will be at today’s hearing
Tasia Melvin,, 35 Carson Street (unable to send in written objections as a result of her stroke) - her son will represent her today.
Bill George and Matthew Johnson, see note below sent by George to John Lum Architects Thank you for your attention

Dear Mr. Mandelman,
I'm writing to ask for your help to HALT PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION of a two family house expansion project which raises building height to 4 stories and extends setback to the street. I am one of at least 12-15 immediate neighbors opposed to the
construction.

Among many other reasons, the proposed construction is not only out of scale and form for the neighborhood, it sets a dangerous precedent for future construction to disregard height and setback. This project and future simiar project will diminishing our property value and create more congestion on an already dense narrow street. We suspect that this project is likely a "flip" for profit project.
As a 27 year resident living at 53 Seward Street, I urge you to please support myself and the many residents of the neighborhood to DEFEAT this action at the Planning Commission hearing tomorrow, Thursday June 6 at 1PM.
Thanks you for your consideration.
Sincerely, (s)

Hi John,
It's Bill George, Matthew Johnson's husband. I heard a few rumors about my feelings about the 50 Seward street project and I thought it would be good to contact you directly to make sure that my thoughts on the subject are clear.
First of all, the neighbor who is next door to this property is just finishing up a major renovation and they chose to use our street as a staging area. It went on WAAAAY to long and really disrupted our lives. That and another endless renovation on our street has left a very bad feeling about construction projects in the neighborhood.
I know that's not enough to stop someone from renovating their own home but the addition of an extra floor on this property is very concerning for me. My backyard already feels like it's in a canyon of structures and adding height to the surrounding buildings will make it even worse. I worry about loss of light, privacy and, of course, a negative effect on the resale of my property. It's already supper jammed around my house and I sure don't want it to get any more congested.
Thank you, Billj

Subject: 50 Seward Street Importance: High
We are the owners of 75 Seward Street and I am formally putting my complaint on the record. Of all the streets affected by this property none of the owners are in favor of it going outside of the existing footprint or going higher. It will take away views and affect sunlight.
In addition, previous complaints have gone ” missing” from the log. Please consider this in reviewing this application.

Dear Ms. Campbell:
I believe you mr Dept and staff have treated this remodel unfairly and you have reported to the Commission that there is no opposition. The latter is totally disingenuous and dishonest.
The block is up in arms over this and your DR staff is in fantasyland.
I intend to call out your DR staff before the Commission. Not a shred of credibility.
