We provide a comprehensive list of Payment Manager cassettes available as of the writing of this book. Not all these cassettes are compatible with the latest version of WebSphere Payment Manager (V2.2) but back-level cassettes may be updated in the future. If the developer of the cassette decides to migrate to later versions of WebSphere Payment Manager, the current tools support data migration from 1.x to 2.x, and to 2.x to 3.x, but not from 1.x to 3.x. The list is not exhaustive, since cassettes don’t have to be certified by IBM and some cassettes are a specific development for a specific customer, not a product that can be resold.
IBM currently ships a cassette for SET with the base Payment Manager software. Most of the other IBM developed and owned cassettes are available free of charge. Contact your local IBM representative for more information. Cassettes from third parties must be obtained from the cassette developers and terms and conditions may vary. Some cassettes are not publicly available, because they were written as custom engagements.
You can consult the full list of cassettes in Table 6-1 on page 167.
APACS
The Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS) is the United Kingdom bank consortium that owns the standards for all inter-bank transfer related items. The APACS cassette connects to financial networks that process requests

Standard 30, “Specification for a Credit Authorization Terminal”. For data capture and settlement, the APACS cassette is designed to process two standards: APACS Standard 29B (“Flexible File Format for Card Companies and Retail”) and APACS Standard 40 (“Acquirers' Interface Requirements for Electronic Data Capture Terminal”).
The physical communication for all APACS messaging is X.25. Most acquirers still only support an X.25 environment. All the major acquirers are in the process of creating Internet support for their merchants. The APACS cassette uses acquirer configuration files to support the needs of today as well as future environments. A configuration file defines the protocol and connection used by the acquirer. In addition, the configuration file references a specific connection implementation.
The first service offering of this cassette was to support an acquirer/processor that supported APACS Standard 30 and APACS Standard 40 over IP. If your target acquirer is not currently supported, then a small piece of service work must be completed to implement a configuration file and supporting classes.
Atos IPS
The IPS cassette, available from Atos, provides full functional access to Atos Poseidon Internet Payment System (IPS), a SSL gateway with support of international credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB), debit cards, direct debit, and stored value cards (for example, German Geldkarte). For the transmission of sensitive financial data, IPS offers a direct SSL
communication to the consumer (thin wallet). Beyond this the IPS gateway can be integrated with the IBM SET solution so it provides the back-end connection to IBM Payment Gateway (via Atos customization).
It is based on credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB). It needs a wallet on the client side, and also supports a server wallet.
BankServACH
This cassette, available from IBM, does not need a card for payments. It admits electronic checks and ACH funds transfers. The electronic check is a version of ACH funds where the electronic media substitute for the traditional paper check. The account information is encrypted and sent to the server, which compares it with a huge database for real-time authorization.
Although the BankServ gateway is prepared for a greater variety of payments, including credit cards, the cassette implementation only admits Internet checks and ACH funds transfers.
The BankServ payment gateway interfaces with the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network to support online electronic check payments, made in a single transaction using the automated ACH system operated by the Federal Reserve to debit and credit the appropriate accounts at different financial institutions. For more information, visit http://www.bankserv.com, or contact your local IBM Sales Representative.
ClearCommerce
The ClearCommerce cassette, from CSI, allows merchant applications to integrate with ClearCommerce's Payment module. The cassette uses
ClearCommerce's JLink 3.8 libraries to connect securely and transact with their servers. The JLink API uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt data transmission during processing.
The communication between the cassette and the ClearCommerce servers is done following some Payment Manager commands. All other operations are local.
For information on ClearCommerce, visit http://www.clearcommerce.com. CSI it’s not an independent software vendor (ISV), so this cassette may not be available as a product.
CustomOffline and OfflineCard
The OfflineCard cassette enables the reading of card transaction details without being connected to a financial processing network. When using the OfflineCard cassette, you can view reports that consolidate both online and offline payments. This cassette is used in the examples OrderEntry and CheckOut applications installed with WebSphere Payment Manager. Its main objective is to provide for development and testing, and an example of using the Java cashier framework. The CustomOffline cassette enables the recording of arbitrary payment information such as voucher payments, cash on delivery payments, or other payment schemes where money is not required to flow. This also works without being connected to a financial network.
The idea behind this cassette is that the customer can define (customize) what each function of the cassette means, which provides complete freedom of personalization without the need for developing a cassette.
CyberCash
The IBM cassette for CyberCash provides access to the CyberCash
CashRegister processing service in US English and US dollars. Currently, only the North American CashRegister service supports the CyberCash Merchant Connection Kit (MCK) Version 3.2 protocol. This service enables merchant access to the set of North American acquirers listed at
http://www.cybercash.com/. While CyberCash CashRegister services may be available in other countries, they may not support the Version 3 interface. The cassette for CyberCash admits payments with credit cards, electronic checks and micro payments. Payments are made using merchant-collected information, where merchant software asks for card information over a secured connection or an electronic wallet. The merchant must already have an account with an acquiring financial institution and authorization as a credit card merchant. More detailed information is provided in the Cassette for CyberCash Supplement available for download at:
http://ibm.com/software/webservers/commerce/payment/docs/paymgr221cyber. pdf
CyberSource
Available from CyberSource, this cassette communicates with the CyberSource Transaction Server (CTS) in real time to authorize and settle credit card and other payment transactions. The payment is done through pre-built connections with third-party processors and merchant banks.
For more information, visit http://www.cybersource.com.
FDMS
The IBM Cassette for First Data Merchant Services (FDMS) North provides access through a leased-line connection to First Data's North platform through SSL. This is available through an IBM Services engagement only.
It uses the standard ISO 8583 message format for authorization requests and responses. The FDMS protocol can handle authorizations for credit cards, electronic checks and debit cards, but the cassette is developed to support credit cards only. Also, although FDMS supports authorization reversals for Visa credit cards only, the cassette does not currently implement this facility.
FDMS does not work with real-time transactions. Instead, all the transactions done in a day are sent in a “settlement” file and processed at the end of the day.
GlobalCollect
Available from a third party (GlobalCollect), this cassette is focused on supporting several payment methods, both card and non-card, based on local standards.
For more information, visit http://www.globalcollect.nl
RiTA
Available from Go Software, this cassette is certified with most major North American processors. The RiTA Payment Cassette for IBM offers credit card, ACH processing and fraud protection features.
For more information, visit http://www.pccharge.com.
PaylinX
Available from Lynk Systems, the PaylinX cassette processes card and check payments. It is valid only for North American credit and debit cards, corporate procurement cards, private label gift cards, and check transactions. Apart from the cassette Lynk also provides optional fraud-scoring and risk management services.
For more information, visit http://www.lynksystems.com.
Payflow Pro
Available from VeriSign Payment Services, the Payflow Pro cassette supports online payment processing for merchants to all major North American payment processors. Fraud screening and ACH processing are optional services also offered by VeriSign. The Signio cassette is now part of VeriSign.
Although the cassette is currently supported only on Windows NT and OS/400, there are plans to port it to AIX and Solaris.
