IEEE Std C37.09-1999

IEEE standard test procedure for AC high-voltage circuit breakers rated on a symmetrical current basis. This test procedure summarises the various tests that are made on AC high-voltage indoor and outdoor circuit breakers, except for generator circuit breakers, which are covered in IEEE Std. C37.013-1997.

IEC 60044-1

IEC standard for instrument transformers. This standard applies to newly manufactured current transformers for use with electrical measuring instruments and electrical protective devices at frequencies from 15 Hz to 100 Hz.

IEC 60056

IEC standard for high-voltage alternating current circuit breakers. This standard is applicable to AC circuit breakers designed for indoor or outdoor installation and for operation up to and including 60 Hz on systems having voltages above 1000 V. This standard does not cover circuit breakers intended for use on motive power units of electrical traction equipment; these are covered by IEC Publication 77: rules for electric traction equipment.

IEC 60076-1

IEC standard for power transformers. This part of the standard applies to three-phase and single-phase power transformers (including auto-transformers) with the exception of certain categories of small and

special transformers, such as welding transformers, testing transformers, instrument transformers, transformers for static convertors, starting trans-formers, and traction transformers mounted on rolling stock.

IEC 60076-5

IEC standard for power transformers. This part of the standard identifies the requirements for power transformers to sustain without damage from the effects of overcurrents originated by external short circuits. The requirements apply to transformers as defined in the scope of IEC 60076-1.

IEC 60099-1

IEC standard for surge arresters. This part of the standard applies to surge-protective devices designed for repeated operation to limit voltage surges on AC power circuits and to interrupt power-follow current. In particular, the standard applies to surge arresters consisting of single or multiple spark gaps in series with one or more nonlinear resistors.

IEC 60129

IEC standard for alternating current disconnectors and earthing switches.

This standard applies to alternating current disconnectors and earthing switches designed for indoor and outdoor installation, for voltages above 1000 V and for service frequencies up to and including 60 Hz.

IEC 60265-1

IEC standard for high-voltage switches. This part of the standard is applicable to three-phase alternating current switches and switch-disconnectors that have making and breaking current ratings for indoor and outdoor installations, for rated voltages above 1 kV and less than 52 kV, and for rated frequencies from 16 2/3 Hz up to and including 60 Hz.

IEC 60282-1

IEC standard for high-voltage current-limiting fuses. This standard applies to all types of high-voltage current-limiting fuses designed for use outdoors or indoors on alternating current systems of 50 Hz and 60 Hz, and of rated voltages exceeding 1000 V. Some fuses are provided with fuse-links equipped with an indicating device or striker. These fuses

come within the scope of this standard, but the correct opening of the striker in combination with the tripping mechanism of the switching device is outside the scope of this standard; see IEC 60420.

IEC 60282-2

IEC standard for expulsion fuses. This standard specifies requirements for expulsion fuses designed for use outdoors or indoors on alternating current systems of 50 Hz and 60 Hz, and of rated voltages exceeding 1000 V.

Expulsion fuses are fuses in which the arc is extinguished by the expulsion effects of the gases produced by the arc.

IEC 60289

IEC standard for reactors. This standard applies to shunt reactors, current-limiting reactors, neutral-earthing reactors, damping reactors, tuning (filter) reactors, earthing transformers (neutral couplers), and arc-suppression reactors.

IEC 60298

IEC standard for AC metal-enclosed switchgear. This standard specifies requirements for factory-assembled metal-enclosed switchgear and control gear for alternating current of rated voltages above 1 kV and up to and including 52 kV for indoor and outdoor installation, and for service frequencies up to and including 60 Hz.

IEC 60353

IEC standard for line traps. This standard applies to line traps inserted into high-voltage AC transmission lines to prevent undue loss of carrier signal power, typically in the range 30 kHz to 500 kHz, under all power system conditions, and to minimise interference from carrier signalling systems on adjacent transmission lines.

IEC 60420

IEC standard for switch-fuse combinations. This standard applies to three-pole units for public and industrial distribution systems that are functional assemblies of switches, including switch-disconnectors and current-limiting fuses, and thus able to interrupt load currents and short-circuit currents.

IEC 60427

IEC standard for synthetic testing of high-voltage circuit breakers. This standard applies to AC circuit breakers within the scope of IEC 60056.

It provides the general rules for testing AC circuit breakers, for making and breaking capacities over the range of test duties described in 6.102 to 6.111 of IEC 60056, by synthetic methods.

IEC 60517

IEC standard for gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear. This stan-dard specifies requirements for gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear in which the insulation is obtained, at least partly, by an insulating gas other than air at atmospheric pressure, for alternating current of voltages of 72.5 kV and above, for indoor and outdoor installation, and for services frequencies up to and including 60 Hz.

IEC 60694

IEC standard with common specifications for high-voltage switchgear and controlgear standards.

IEC 60726

IEC standard for dry-type power transformers. This standard applies to dry-type power transformers (including autotransformers), having a highest voltage up to and including 36 kV.

IEC 61128

IEC standard for AC disconnectors. This standard applies to alternating current disconnectors, rated 52 kV and above, capable of switching bus-transfer currents.

IEC 61129

IEC standard for AC earthing switches. This standard applies to alter-nating current switches, rated 52 kV and above, capable of switching induced currents.

IEC 61233

IEC technical report for inductive load switching by high-voltage circuit breakers. This technical report is applicable to circuit breakers that

are used for switching of transformer magnetising currents, currents of high-voltage motors, or currents of shunt reactors.

IEC 61259

IEC standard for gas-insulated switchgear. This standard applies to alternating current gas-insulated metal-enclosed disconnectors for rated voltages of 72.5 kV and above. It provides test requirements for gas-insulated metal-enclosed disconnectors used to switch small capacitive currents (no load currents), which occur when sections of bus bars or grading capacitors are energised or de-energised.

IEC 61633

IEC technical report for high-voltage metal-enclosed and dead tank circuit breakers. This report contains information and recommendations for test circuits and procedures for type-testing relevant to short-circuit making and breaking, and switching performance of metal-enclosed and dead tank circuit breakers. Special test circuits are given and the tests described can be made, in principle, in both direct and synthetic circuits.
