The cat wakes m e up in the m iddle o f the night. He is running around like mad, staring out each window in turn. Barb is w orried that there might b e so m eone or some thing outside the cabin. I fee l I haue been taught som ething during sleep, perhaps in an astral learning center. One part o f m e was ed u ca ted w hile a nother part o f me dreamed about going to a uniuersity. Perhaps th e dream w as a consequence o f the fact that I u;as in an astral learning center; o n e part o f m e affects a nother part o f me.
What I was taught was a lesson in energy. I w ake up a n d kn o w that there is only one type o f energy in the uniuerse. It is everyw h ere a n d I can sense it. We all can. It feels like pockets o f energy, spread a bout in the air a n d in matter. The higher concen tration o f pockets in a place, the m ore energetic that place is. I lo o k at Barb and sense she consists o f pockets o f energy. Euerything does. My subtle parts are in charge. My ational mind has yet to awaken, or I choose not to use it. Is that o n e type o f energy e - N o . . . n /ee/s more like the energy o f intent. In any case, I choose not to analyze it, because I know that my subconscious already know s exactly w hat the energy is and

The prospect o f cultural exc h an g e excites me. The d a rk n e ss a n d the w o b b lin g light from the fire-stove pu t m e in a s p o o k e d m o o d . Then I realize that if alie n s co m e a round, with their interdim ensional c o m m u n ica tio n devices, there w o u ld su rely b e a d isturbance in the pockets o f en e rg y outside, a n d I w o u ld feel this like ripple s u p o n a pond. Reassured, the fear dissipates.
The next m orning, Barb tells m e s h e h a d a h y p n a g o g ic image o f a tall, steel-gray alien looking at u s th ro u gh the w in d o w s a s w e slept. P e rh a p s h e w a s gazing at u s from another d im e n sio n a n d c o u ld o n ly b e se e n in the h y p n a g o g ic state, w h e n re ason is asleep.
