1. CONTEXTOS

1.4 CENTRO URBANO PRESIDENTE ALEMÁN (CUPA) 1947-1949

Salzburg Zell am See

Location:

Built from 1894-96, the Grand Hotel was the No.1 destination in the Belle Epoque for summer holiday. During the 50ies several movies were made at the place, and in the 80ies the hotel was completely renovated and reopened in 1995. The Grand Hotel Zell am See has an absolutely dreamful location, directly at the Zeller Lake. Next ski bus stop is just 300m away.

Rooms:

The hotel contains 115 rooms, apartments or suites with a panoramic view, bath or shower/WC, hairdryer, radio, telephone, cable-TV, minibar and safe. Apartments (about 38-45m2) have a parents’ bedroom,

a living room with bunk beds, bathrobes and a free underground garage parking place.

Facilities:

The hotel is equipped with hotel lobby, free internet access, restaurant “Kaiser- saal” and panorama restaurant, an imperi- al snuggery, a potted stone pine snuggery, Grand café at the lake, an imperial café- bar, a wine store and parking places. The traditional Austrian cuisine line, refined in keeping with the times and prepared lightly as well as substantial regional „Pinzgauer“ titbits strike a chord with our guests. On the one hand the owners would like to do justice to the nostalgic touch of the Grand Hotel, on the other hand they would like to pay tribute to the creative regional cuisine and to meet the nutrition trend of the past years. For the evening entertainment the „Imperial-Café-Bar“, which revives the nostalgic flair of ancient times with its various areas, recesses and cosy rooms (k.u.k. Jägerstüberl, smart

drawing room in the style of the period of industrial expansion from 1871 on, home- ly fireplace room) offers its services. Mr. Günther Rettenbacher, a qualified Somme- lier, invites into the Vinothek for commen- ted wine-tastings. Pleasant relaxing for body, spirit and soul in the relaxing-area with panorama-indoor pool with view of the lake, hot-whirlpool, vast sauna world with steam bath, soft sauna, Bio-herb sauna and Penthouse-panorama sauna with sundeck Solarium, massages, beauty- and wellness therapies are against an extra payment.

Children:

The children’s club with support is open from Monday to Friday for children 3 to 12 years aged, further there is a children’s basin, high chairs and baby phone.

Catering:

Guests may choose between the classical- regional cuisine with „Pinzgauer“ titbits, the traditional „Grand Hotel-cuisine“ with the typical Austrian desserts or the vegeta- rian specialities, which are prepared cur- rent biological and light. On top of it the hotel spoils with an eventful programme which stretches from the „Pinzgauer“ titbits buffet to the exquisite old-establis- hed Austrian dessert buffet. The hotel offers a rich breakfast buffet with a biolo- gical corner, in the evening a 4-course menu of choice with salad menu and diverse gastronomic theme evenings.

Activities:

The hotel provides a modern fitness centre and live music. Squash, wine tasting in the in-house wine store and the animation program are against an extra payment.

Golf info:

Here, at the Golfclub Zell am See/Kaprun golfers can play golf at 36 holes on two spacious courses in the ‘Europa-Sportregi- on’ right in the middle of the lovely Alps. From April to November the courses Schmittenhöhe’ and ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ offer sufficient room for the art of golf to the ambitious beginner as well as to the professional. Taking the putter will always be a thrill and the crowning end at each hole. The bunkers, lakes and biotopes of these championship courses have seen the cream of the international golf sport handle their clubs. Greg Norman, Steve Ballesteros, Mark McNulty and other world-class sportsmen have all been enthusiastic about the unique and convin- cing mixture of the sporting challenge and the varied landscape at this wide, sunny valley bottom. Each of the courses de- mands the players‘ full attention and precise strokes. Since 1993 one of the best, the German Bernhard Langer, has been holding the course record on ‘Schmitten- höhe’ with 66 shots. On this course (Par 72, SSS 72) men play over a distance of 6.218 metres, ladies have 750 metres less to master. At the ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ (Par 73, SSS 72) it is a question of moving the ball for 6.146 metres (ladies 5.421 metres) with the least possible number of strokes.
