The situations as at 30th _{June 2006 and as at 31}st _{December 2006 have been reconstructed on a uniform basis with}

respect to the situation as at 30th _{June 2007 and they therefore do not coincide with the corresponding situations}

contained in the periodical financial reports published by the former BPU Banca Group and by the former Banca Lombarda e Piemontese Group.

More specifically for the situation as at 30th _{June 2006:}

- the tax collection companies (Bergamo Esattorie Spa and Ancona Tributi Spa), both sold to Riscossione Spa (now Equitalia Spa) with effect from 30th _{September 2006 have been excluded;}

- the staff of Banca Regionale Europea Spa were increased to include 209 staff from BCR di Tortona Spa, merged in November 2006;

- the staff of Banca Popolare di Ancona Spa were increased to include 83 staff from Banca Popolare di Todi Spa, merged in December 2006;

- the staff of Centrobanca Spa were increased to include the staff from Investmenti Piccole Imprese Spa, merged in August 2006;

- the staff numbers of BPU Esaleasing Spa are equal to the sum of the staff of BPU Leasing and Esaleasing Spa, merged in July 2006;

- the personnel of some companies include the effect of the centralisation of IT activities in BPU Centrosystem Spa: Centrobanca (-1), Banca 24-7 (-10), UBI Sim (-1), BPU Esaleasing (-1), UBI Partecipazioni Assicurative (-25), Mercato Impresa (-4); FinanzAttiva Servizi (-16);

- the personnel of BPU Centrosystem were increased by 58 as a result of the operation described in the preceding point.

In the situations as at 30th _{June 2006 and as at 31}st _{December 2006:}

- the staff of Capitalgest SGR Spa were increased by the staff from Grifogest Spa (29 in June 2006 and 22 in December 2006) merged in June 2007;

- the staff numbers of Banca Carime Spa were reduced by the staff of the 15 branches sold to Banca Popolare Pugliese Scpa, which took effect from 1st _{May 2007 (72 staff as at 30}th _{June 2006 and 71 in December 2006);}

- the staff of UBI Pramerica SGR Spa and of UBI Banca Scpa were decreased and increased respectively by 20 in relation to the centralisation at the Parent Bank of the administrative and accounting functions relating to collective asset management instruments, including “NAV calculations”, in compliance with Bank of Italy requirements.

Finally, as at 30th _{June 2007, the personnel of BPB Immobiliare Srl included 45 seasonal workers (46 in June 2006).}

As at 30th _{June 2007 the human resources of the UBI Banca Group numbered 21.692}

compared to 21.914 in June 2006 and 21.588 in December 2006.

As can be seen from the table 4, there was a reduction on an annual basis of 222 staff, attributable entirely to a reduction in employees and only partly offset by the increase in temporary agency staff. The reduction in numbers of employees was the result of 1.176 staff leaving, of which 179 on early retirement schemes and 92 from use of the ‘solidarity fund’ compared to 859 new appointments, of which 408 on permanent contracts and 451 on temporary contracts. Intragroup transfers involved a total of 208 staff.

The reduction in staff numbers involved the following network banks in the Group: Banca Carime (-104 staff), Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria (-75), Banco di Brescia (-48), Banca Regionale Europea (-30), Banca Popolare di Bergamo (-4) and Banca di Valle Camonica (-4). Changes in staff numbers moved in the opposite direction, however, at Banca Popolare di Ancona (+5 staff) and del Banco di San Giorgio (+15 staff). The trend for other banks showed a tendency for growth, the most significant being at IW Bank (+27 staff) in relation to the expansion of operations and its listing on the stock exchange as specified in the Industrial Plan.

Staff numbers for the non banking Group member companies fell on aggregate by 78 to which the decrease of 33 staff at Capitalgest SGR contributed in particular.

Compared to the situation at the end of 2006 there was growth in the personnel of the UBI Banca Group of 59 staff, net of 45 seasonal workers at BPB Immobiliare, as a result of greater use of temporary staff destined to support branches during the summer period.

The average age of Group employees at the end of the first half of 2007 was 41 years and 7 months compared to 41 years and 1 month a year before, while the average length of service was 14 years and 11 months (14 years and 6 months in June 2006).

The percentage of part time employees increased to 6,5% from 6,1% twelve months previously. Female personnel accounted for 34,4% of the total for the Group, compared to 33,9% in the previous year.
