Although it was established through the literature review that dyadic coaching was more popular than team coaching. The study did not seek to understand the reasons behind such preference in practice. The area for future research may be to establish the reasons influencing such practices in the workplace. Triangulation was achieved by have multiple rounds of interviews to ensure data quality. Future research could benefit from including all the stakeholders identified in this study in order to provide multiple perspectives on the implementation of team coaching. Furthermore it may be beneficial if future research validate the framework that emerged through a quantitative research design.
6.5 Conclusion
Overall, there have been limited studies conducted on team coaching in the workplace. The current body of knowledge in team coaching is based on the practitioners view point. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify critical success factors for team coaching implementation and to form a basis on which further work can be conducted. Based on empirical evidence on team coaching implementation as well as interviews conducted by the researcher, a number of critical success factors were identified which enabled the conceptualisation of the framework. The framework represents team coaching
102
as a linear process with a feedback loop, which enables the various aspects to be reviewed and be improved upon on a continuous basis during team coaching. Although the study was based on the broader South African environment the researcher contends that it is applicable to any organisational setting. The framework can therefore be used as a guideline for organisations and team coaching practitioners.
