The general analyss of hgh-performance sportng products llustrated several desgn ssues for ths nvestgaton. Frstly, the Hulme F1 supercar s not desgned for ‘professonal users’ (as llustrated n Fgure 019). Therefore the nteror desgn proposal should not be desgned to the extend that t becomes an actual hgh-performance race car nteror.
Secondly, vsual research nto hgh-performance sportng products noted a con- trast between the perceved ‘suggested’ level of performance and the ‘actual’ dynamc level of performance n some products. To llustrate ths, Fgure 020

Ths chart llustrates how some motorcars (.e. the motorcar modfied wth after market parts, labelled 1, also seen n Fgure 021) are styled to have a strong hgh-performance expresson, but does not necessarly have the correspondng level of ‘sport orentated’
performance. Conversely, some motorcars (.e. the motorcar labelled 2, also seen n Fgure 022) has a very hgh level of ‘sport orentated’ performance, but s styled n a more sophstcated, understated and/or conservatve manner.
To put ths nto context, the Hulme F1 supercar s also postoned on the chart. Its actual level of performance s based on ntal techncal specficatons and ts hgh-performance expresson s nherently strong through the referencng of F1 race cars. The chart llustrates that the hgh-performance stylng of the Hulme F1 supercar roughly complments ts ntended level of sports orentated performance.
Ths rases the next ssue for the nteror desgn proposal. What level of hgh- performance stylng s approprate for the nteror desgn proposal? As mentoned earler, the Hulme F1 supercar s not desgned for professonal users and therefore should not be a specalsed racng hgh-performance nteror. Ths does not necessarly determne whether the nteror desgn proposal should be styled to have a low, moderate or hgh level of hgh-performance expresson (or anywhere n between). As noted earler, hgh-performance sportng products requre hgh mental focus, physcal focus and specalsed tranng. Conversely, luxury products generally af- ford comfort, ease of use and famlarty. To ths end, the terms hgh-performance and luxury share certan opposng qualtes. It s apparent that the nteror desgn proposal requres an approprate balance between luxury and hgh-performance. To address ths balance, Fgure 023 llustrates the terms assocated wth luxury and hgh-performance, and ther desred level of use wthn the nteror desgn proposal. Fgure 023 also llustrates a balance between the opposng qualtes. For example, ‘comfort’ and ‘ease of use’ have hgh desrablty, consequently ‘demandng to use’ (an opposng term) has low desrablty.
Ths research has llustrated a wde range of ssues assocated wth hgh-perform- ance and ts approprateness for the nteror desgn proposal. The ssues clearly llustrate the need for careful stylng of hgh-performance vsual qualtes wthn the nteror desgn proposal. These ssues are addressed durng the development of the nteror desgn proposal.

Formula One (F1) racng (also known as Grand Prx racng) s classfied as the hghest class of professonal motor racng by the world governng body for mo- tor sport, the Federaton Internatonale de l’Automoble (FIA). F1 s arguably the most domnant vsual motf behnd the Hulme F1 supercar. Therefore, t s mportant to understand the aesthetc nfluence of ths motf and ts mplcatons for the nteror desgn proposal (n context to the desred qualty of meanngful famlarty).
