CAPÍTULO 111:

ANTECEDENTES Y ESTUDIOS BÁSICOS PARA EL RECRECIMIENTO DEL DEPÓSITO DE RELAVES EXPLORADOR

3.2.1 Descripción del Proyecto Primera Alternativa

The SESA Manager, SESA DataStore, and SESA Directory can run on either Windows or Solaris operating systems. You can install SESA components on all Windows computers, all Solaris computers, or a combination of both. If you are using Oracle 9i as the database for the SESA DataStore, you must install it on a dedicated Solaris computer that is separate from the SESA Manager and SESA Directory. You can install the SESA Manager and SESA Directory on either Solaris or Windows computers, as necessary. If you are using IBM DB2 as the database for the SESA DataStore, you can install the SESA Manager, SESA DataStore, and SESA Directory on one, two, or three Windows computers. SESA also supports a SESA DataStore on a Windows computer while a SESA Manager and SESA Directory are installed on either Solaris or Windows computers. However, organizations with high-volume, high-performance, or otherwise large networking environments should install each SESA component on a separate computer, regardless of the operating system. If resource limitations

make separate computers impossible, or network size and traffic allow, you can install two SESA components on one computer. Typically, you install all three SESA components on the same Windows computer for testing purposes only. Table 3-2 lists the various combinations of operating system platforms on which you can install the SESA Directory, SESA DataStore, and SESA Manager to set up a single SESA installation.

Table 3-2 Supported variations of SESA installations

Installation configuration

Description of installation SESA Manager OS SESA DataStore OS SESA Directory OS Express installation (Demonstration and testing purposes only)

Use one Windows computer for all three SESA

components. IBM DB2 Personal Edition, which is provided on the SESA Foundation Pack CD, is installed as the SESA DataStore software. This type of configuration is for testing and demonstration installations only. IBM DB2 Personal Edition is not robust enough to handle a full- production SESA installation.

Windows Windows Windows

All Windows Use one, two, or three Windows computers. An IBM DB2 Universal database must be used for the SESA DataStore. IBM DB2 Universal databases are not included on the SESA Foundation Pack CD set. If the SESA DataStore and SESA Manager are installed on different computers, the IBM DB2 Runtime Client must be installed on the SESA Manager computer as well to support a remote connection between the SESA Manager and SESA DataStore.

Windows Windows Windows

All Solaris Use two or three Solaris computers. A dedicated Solaris computer that is running Oracle 9i must be used for the SESA DataStore. To support the IBM Directory Server 4.1 on a Solaris platform and the connection to the SESA DataStore, a supported IBM DB2 database (Workgroup or Enterprise Edition version 7.1 or later with FixPak 5) must be installed before installing the SESA Directory. IBM DB2 Enterprise Edition is provided on the SESA Foundation Pack Solaris CD2.

System requirements

Mixed platforms 1: SESA Directory on Solaris

Use one Solaris computer for the SESA Directory. Use one or two Windows computers for the SESA Manager and SESA DataStore, as resources and network topology dictate. IBM DB2 Workgroup Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Enterprise Extended Edition must be used for the SESA DataStore. The IBM DB2 Enterprise Edition (provided on Solaris CD2) must be installed on the same computer as the SESA Directory to support the IBM Directory Server 4.1 and the connection to the SESA DataStore. In addition, if the SESA DataStore and SESA Manager are installed on different Windows computers, the IBM DB2 Runtime Client must be installed on the SESA Manager computer to support a remote connection between the SESA Manager and SESA DataStore.

Windows Windows Solaris

Mixed platforms 2: SESA DataStore on Solaris

One Solaris computer running Oracle 9i is required for the SESA DataStore. One or two Windows computers are used for the SESA Manager and SESA Directory.

Windows Solaris Windows

Mixed platforms 3: SESA Manager on Solaris

One Solaris computer is used for the SESA Manager. One or two Windows computers are used for the SESA DataStore and SESA Directory. An IBM DB2 Universal database must be used for the SESA DataStore. IBM DB2 Universal databases are not included on the SESA Foundation Pack CD set. The IBM Runtime Client must be installed on the SESA Manager computer to support a remote connection to the SESA DataStore.

Solaris Windows Windows

Mixed platforms 4: SESA Manager on Windows

One dedicated Solaris computer that is running Oracle 9i is required for the SESA DataStore. One Windows computer is used for the SESA Manager. Another Solaris computer is used for the SESA Directory.
