Provides volunteer drivers for individuals receiving cancer treatment. Vehicles are not specially equipped, so passengers must be able to get in and out without assistance. Request for rides should be made 1-2 days before. Also provides limited-term financial assistance to alleviate cancer

treatment/medical costs.

HANDYDART

Translink provides a door-to-door customer transit service for those with various disabilities.

HandyDART is a shared-ride public transportation service, with vehicles specially equipped to carry people of various abilities, and wheelchair lifts. Shared-ride means that trips with similar start times, destinations and starting places are coordinated together. You must call in advance to book your trip. HandyDART offers two types of service: Subscription Trips (trips taken daily or weekly) and Casual Trips (trips taken on a one-time basis or occasionally). Trips for work, medical appointments, or education are always given priority.

Who is Eligible to Access HandyDART?

People with physical and developmental disabilities who are unable to use public transit without assistance. Pets are prohibited unless they are assistance animals.

How Do I Register?

You can print the Application Form on the Translink website (http://www.translink.ca/en/Rider- Info/Accessible-Transit/HandyDART.aspx) or contact the Access Transit Office at 778.452.2860. You’ll need to provide information on the form about your date of birth, home address, doctor's name and phone number and any special medical facts affecting your use of HandyDART. All this

Service hours are typically weekdays from 6:30am – 7:00pm. Individual contracts provide the service for Translink, so service may vary from community to community. Some HandyDART contractors provide evening and weekend service.

If you wish to transfer to general public transit, you can also request a 3 Zone Faresaver ticket from your HandyDART driver. You can access Translink’s Trip Planner to find out which routes on general public transit are wheelchair accessible. This service is available by phone at 604-953-3333 via Translink’s Customer Information.

HandyCard

A HandyCard is available to people with permanent physical or cognitive disabiliies that make it difficult to use the public transit system without assistance. If you live within the TransLink service area, HandyCard lets you travel for Concession Fares on the bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express. If you’re accompanied by someone who assists you they can ride for free

HandyCard can’t be used on HandyDART. When you begin your transit trip on HandyDART, you pay the regular HandyDART fare, not a concession fare.

Cardholders are also eligible to purchase TaxiSavers. These are coupons in $1, $2 and $5 amounts are only available from your local HandyDART office. TaxiSavers assist HandyCard holders with permanent disabilities in paying for their taxi fare. The HandyCard service is not valid on
