The powerful laser beam operates by creating coherence between light
waves. Light is made up of millions of packets of light waves, with each light wave vibrating at a slightly different frequency than the one beside it. When you can cause just one tenth of one percent of these light waves to vibrate at the same frequency, that’s one thousand out of one million, all the others automatically shift into coherence and vibrate at the same frequency,
becoming a powerful beam. The required number for this to happen is one tenth of one percent, and this is how the laser beam achieves its intensity. The reason I’m sharing this information is that it is distinctly possible that there is also a quantum number that applies toconsciousness, and it may very well be this same ratio. If this is the case, from a cosmic evolutionary point of view each of us counts for a thousand. This is reassuring. It would be daunting if we thought we needed all or even most of humanity to think and act in these new ways before we could see a major shift in
consciousness. But if, like the laser beam, there is a threshold number that is necessary to trigger the event of cosmic consciousness, then it becomes far more plausible that this could happen and happen quickly, even in our lifetime. If one tenth of one percent is in fact the magic ratio, in a species that now numbers around seven billion, it would take seven million of us to awaken in order to trigger this event. This is very doable. It also means that each of us counts for a thousand others. To trigger cosmic consciousness we need only one out of every thousand people to be inspired by this vision, to take up the path of quantum warriorship or a similar visionary discipline. This shift will happen if enough of us come to believe that our personal awakening makes a difference, and we act accordingly. Individually, one by one, we must break the spell that has us thinking it doesn’t matter what we do. It matters absolutely what we do. One by one we take our place and weave the web with our visions and actions. If we think it doesn’t matter whether we contribute or not, this belief will stop us from acting.
This is more or less what is happening in our world today. Too many of us think that because we are only one person it doesn’t matter how we think or act, but with our quantum understanding we realize this is not the case. Not only are we needed to step up and act, we need to step up and act in ways that are revolutionary. One tenth of one percent of us must hear the call and act in quantum ways in order to trigger cosmic consciousness in our species. Who might these people be? I think they are you and me.
What makes this vision so compelling and possible is that we don’t need everyone to respond to make something extraordinary happen on the
planet. We need only one tenth of one percent. Nor do we need to be Nobel laureates, millionaires, great artists, visionaries or even, for that matter, have anything exceptional to offer. We only have to be ourselves. Each of us is being called, so we listen within and act upon what is revealed. We act in ways that feel right for us.
I believe that this evolutionary leap in consciousness is imminent (in the next few generations) in part because of the crises that the world presently faces. Climate change, overpopulation, poverty, new strains of diseases, nuclear arms; the list of cataclysmic scenarios that face our species is almost endless. While it might seem somewhat counterintuitive, these present
crises are hopeful signs, for the very reason that crisis always precedes transformation. These present-day crises, unlike anything the world has previously seen, may very well be the evolutionary awakeners that trigger the preprogrammed codes within us that will awaken the cosmic potentials needed at this point in time. It may be a quantum Darwinian survival of the species that is now taking place, only this time it is happening in
consciousness. It is possible that our inner cosmic programs, feeling this vibration, are responding in the way they have been designed to respond, shifting us into a different level of consciousness, where we suddenly experience everything in a different way.
MEMES
Memes are seed ideas that organize our thoughts and give our individual actions meaning. The same way neurons build brain circuitry, memes build cultures and create common visions. Author Howard Bloom explains it this way: “The meme is a self-replicating cluster of ideas. Thanks to a handful of biological tricks, these visions become the glue that holds together
civilizations, giving each culture its distinctive shape.”5
A meme travels from one individual to another, from group to group, not unlike a virus spreading, eventually entering into the entire culture. Every culture needs a vision to give it meaning and purpose. When a culture loses its vision it loses its way. In many ways this is what has happened to us today. Our present memes—consumerism, self-preoccupation, getting rich at all costs, winner take all—are of questionable value, and yet we have
inherited them from our culture and they reside within us as vibrational callings.
Typically each of us accepts the consensual cultural views without
arose more or less unconsciously, directing our actions accordingly. However, now that we are awakening we have the chance to see and
understand ourselves differently. Now, with our quantum understanding, we can make choices to imprint revolutionary life-affirming memes that will foster a positive future for all of us.
The meme of conscious evolution is one such meme. The meme that each of us counts for a thousand is another. These memes could spread very quickly given the state of our evolving consciousness, not to mention the
sophistication of our present communication systems. In this quickened age of instant connectivity ideas can spread at hyperspeed. A popular video on YouTube can reach millions in a day, fifty or a hundred million in a week. Facebook, Twitter, these new mediums give us the technical basis for
unleashing new memes in ways our society has never seen before. It is not by chance that consciousness and technology are advancing together. There is a weave here too similar to ignore. The Internet is the technological
equivalent of the energy web. They are both systems where we have instant connectivity and access to all information, where we are all plugged into the whole. That both technology and consciousness are evolving at hyperspeeds at the exact same time in our history is at the very least an interesting coincidence. You would not be faulted for suspecting that some type of synchronicity is at work here.
Maybe this is the way it was always meant to happen. Christian scholar Beatrice Bruteau believes this: “I think that we must see our technology as something holy … the vital advancing edge of the symbiotic cosmos.”6 Could
it possibly be that the universe is unfolding exactly as it should?
Evolutionist Barbara Marx Hubbard thinks so. She believes strongly in the power of choice, and has spent most of her life dedicated to the human potential, teaching the importance of each of us taking responsibility for our beliefs. She explains her vision this way:
“The effort to develop a new meme is a vital aspect of feeding the hungry, healing the sick, stopping the violence and freeing the world of poisonous toxins. The most direct path to our survival and fulfillment is to develop and communicate an idea system that guides us toward ethical evolution. In the past, memes arose unconsciously and directed our actions, often without our knowing it. But now we are responsible not just for our actions, but for our beliefs as well. Common sense dictates that we evaluate our beliefs on the basis of how they affect us. If they make us more loving, creative, and wise, they are good beliefs. If they make us cruel, jealous, depressed, and sick they cannot be good beliefs and we must remove them from our
And this is exactly what we do. We weave the web with visionary beliefs, building a model of reality for ourselves that reflects all that is good and noble. We sculpt ourselves with consciousness for the betterment of our species. If one out of a thousand of us chooses this vision and acts in these ways, we can change the world.
Conscious evolution is presently birthing evolutionary artists from every culture, artists who are telling their stories in a variety of ways. It is often the artists, mystics and visionaries who feel it first, who create the inspiring visions that call us to action. When these ideas find themselves in mass- media productions such as big-budget movies—which they have—we know it is already in the collective unconscious, and is soon to be conscious for us all. This is what is so exciting and thrilling about our times. Inspirational theatre, music, books and films are lifting the vision of humanity, helping us to see ourselves in a new way in this the greatest and most exciting time to be alive, the time of the Great Awakening, where our species evolved to cosmic consciousness.
Slowly the memes of conscious evolution and each of us counting for a thousand will propagate and gather momentum until millions of us feel the authenticity of this vision, and we find ourselves thinking and acting in ways that surprise us. Evolutionary forces are at work, calling out to us, and many of us are feeling this call and acting, each in our own unique way, and this is why there is such hope for the future.
The changes will be small, almost imperceptible at first, but as the tide gains strength many more will feel it too and be inspired to act. Our species has been programmed for just this opportunity, and many surprises are in store for us once we hit critical mass. When seven million of us act in quantum ways, we will weave the web with images that will be unstoppable.
This is where quantum warriors are called to action. We have a vision of what is possible and are prepared to live for it. Physicists may have the knowledge and understanding of the mechanics of the universe, but the warrior takes this knowledge and lives it. It is the active ‘living of these truths’ that distinguishes warriorship from other practices. This is an
important point. It is also the difference between the paths of the mystic and the warrior. A mystic may perceive the universe in a non-Newtonian way and feel his oneness with it, but he rarely acts in a proactive way to create changes. He is content to influence the collective with the vibration of who he is, which indeed is a necessary and valuable contribution. The quantum warrior however, not only vibrates the web with who she is but further contributes by focusing her will and imagination in ways that her highest calling reveals. Quantum warriorship is a new discipline for today’s world. It
is the vision, complete with a methodology, of becoming an integrated human being assisting humanity into cosmic consciousness. It is our calling to awaken, fulfill our potential and be our best.
