Secured an order worth Rs.9,500 million, for setting up a 99 (3x33) MW captive power plant on EPC basis from Bharat Oman Refinery Limited (BORL) as part of its refinery project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.

The power plant will be equipped with eco-friendly Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion (CFBC) boilers of 275 tons per hour capacity, specifically designed for petcoke fuel. Won against international competitive bidding, the order assumes special significance as this is the first order for petcoke-fired CFBC boilers on BHEL, as also the largest-value single order secured by the Industry Sector business segment. The power plant will meet the process steam and power requirement of the upcoming refinery project.

While the first unit is slated for commissioning in a schedule of 26 months, the project will be completed within 30 months. The equipment has to meet very stringent technical specifications to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality power and steam to the refinery.

Against International Competitive Bidding, BHEL has bagged another major order from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for setting up an energy efficient and environment friendly co-generation power plant at its Haldia Refinery Complex. IOC has placed an order worth over Rs.1,650 million, on Lumpsum Turnkey (LSTK) basis. The project is being set up to meet the requirement of uninterrupted power supply, in addition to the steam needs of the refinery and is scheduled for commissioning in 22 months.

BHEL's scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection

and commissioning of a Frame-5 Gas Turbine Generator and a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) of 130 tons per hour capacity with associated auxiliaries and balance of plant, in addition to complete civil works and select spares.

BHEL will supply the largest size (210 TPH) BFBC (Bubbling Fluidised Bed Combustion) Boiler along with a 50 MW steam turbine generator against an order from IND Energy, Raigarh. The boiler will operate on washery rejects, a fuel having the least commercial value and will generate power at a very low cost.

Once again demonstrated its competitive edge by bagging a World Bank funded turnkey contract for a new 400 kV substation and extension of three existing substations in Maharashtra, against stiff competition from European MNCs and Indian companies.

Valued at Rs.1,440 million, the order has been placed by Power Grid Corporation of India (PowerGrid) for a new 400 kV substation at Wardha and extensions of 400 kV substations at Seoni, Akola and Aurangabad, associated with the Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II supplementary transmission system. Aimed at improving power supply in the Western Region, the project will be commissioned by BHEL in a tight schedule of 19 months.

BHEL will supply 500 MVA converter transformers - the largest such equipment to be manufactured in India and amongst the largest worldwide for PGCIL's ±500 kV, 2500 MW HVDC terminal stations at Ballia and Bhiwadi.

BHEL's in-house developments have received commercial recognition in the form of the first order for an indigenously-developed device for use in high-voltage (400 kV) transmission lines. The first-of-its-kind in the world Controlled Shunt Reactor (CSR)

has been developed by BHEL in-house. The device, which operates automatically, depending on system requirement in less than 10 milliseconds, improves power transfer capability of transmission lines and reduces system losses, besides improving system stability in high-voltage transmission lines.

BHEL has received the first commercial order for supply, erection, testing and commissioning of an 80 MVAR, 400 kV Controlled Shunt Reactor at Karad Substation on Karad - Lonikand line on turnkey basis from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited.
