Child, India’s largest selling parenting magazine, hosted the 2nd
edition of its Child Most Popular Awards 2014 on May 19 at The
Radisson Blu hotel, New Delhi Dwarka, in Delhi. The awards
honoured the most popular products and services operating in the
baby and children’s space, as voted by readers. The evening saw
many award winners representing companies such as Mothercare,
Cordlife, Bata, Sony, Kellogg’s, Nikon, LIC, Pigeon, Giny & Jony,
Kent RO, Mom & Me, Fortis Healthcare, Apollo Hospitals and so on,
come together under one roof.
Mrs. Shallu Jindal, renowned Kuchipudi dancer, and Chaiperson
of the National Bal Bhavan, was the Chief Guest for the evening. Two
child artistes enthralled the audience—Aditi Iyer, a 9-year-old singing
sensation, and teenager Gaurang Jhalani who rendered two songs on
the keyboard.
With close to 50 awards across several categories covering
apparel, retail, food, healthcare, entertainment, personal grooming,
and more, the awards are the most comprehensive awards for the
baby and childcare category in India. The polling for the awards was
conducted as a reader’s poll both through the magazine and online.
The questionnaire was open ended, with no nominations, and the
awards are a refl ection of readers’ choices. Some of the awards
were: Most Popular Quick Meal for Busy Moms: Maggi Bhuna
Masala; Most Popular Kid’s Shoe Brand: Nike; Most Popular
Retail Store: Big Bazaar; Most Popular Family Restaurant Chain:

Also featuring on the list were Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan
as readers voted these two celebrities as The Most Popular Celebrity
Ambassador for Social Cause (Kids). Most Popular Child Artiste of
the Year was won by Faisal Khan (of Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana
Pratap). The Runner-up was Sonali Majumdar, the child dancing
sensation who partnered with Sumant for India’s Got Talent and Jhalak
Dikhla Jaa.
