A big athletic force on the offensive line, Todd Herremans (pro- nounced HARE-uh-mens) has been solid as the team's starting left guard over the last three-plus seasons. During his rookie year in 2005, Herremans saw valuable action at left tackle for an injured Tra Thomas and successfully made the transition to guard in his sophomore campaign. A fourth-round draft choice of the Eagles, Herremans earned a five-year contract extension in 2006 that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2013.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

• Named to Larry Weisman's USA Today 2008 All-Joe Team, which honors the NFL players whose work doesn't necessarily garner headlines, but is integral to the success of their football team • Scored the first TD of his career on a one-yard pass from QB

Donovan McNabb, while playing as an eligible receiver on a goal- line play at Sea. (11/2)

• Became just the 2nd offensive lineman in team history to catch a TD pass and the first since Bob Gonya did so on 10/7/34 vs. Pit.

2009 HIGHLIGHTS

• Started at LT at SD (11/15), filling in for an injured Jason Peters • Started at LG at Was. (10/26), after missing the first five games

with a foot injury

BIRDSEED

• Took up chess as a hobby in college and became addicted. Has been invloved in Eagles Youth Partnership's annual chess tour- nament for the past three years. "When I was in college, one of my buddy's parents brought us a chess set and three or four of us ended up sitting around playing chess all the time. I got into the strategy of the game and liked how you always had to think three or four steps ahead all the time. Then I got to see how good the kids were with the EYP event, and was amazed."

• Growing up in the small town of Ravenna (pronounced ruh-VENN- uh), located in the western part of Michigan, didn't aid in getting Todd recruited to play football at a Division I-A school. In a town that had one blinking street light, one gas station and one pri- vately owned grocery store, the football program was very small. In fact, his senior year team consisted of just 19 players. Although he played tight end, offensive tackle, and defensive tackle, his tal- ented but underexposed career went unnoticed by the big schools. That's why he decided on Saginaw Valley State, a small teaching school at the Division II level, which offered him a scholarship that covered half of his tuition

• Aspires to become an actor one day and enjoys going to live the- atre. Was a member of the drama club in high school and played the lead role in the play Tom Jones during his junior year • Has a strong interest in drawing and other forms of art. Has

worked over the years with various different mediums including chalk, graphite, and water colors

• Herremans on his first part-time job at a pickle factory: "First job I ever had was at the Swanson Pickle Company. Mainly I did gen- eral maintenance, carpentry, electric work, that kind of thing. You might ask if I ate all the pickles, but they weren't pickles yet. At the factory they were cucumbers, and I ate my fair share of cucum- bers."

INJURY REPORT

• Was rendered inactive in games 1-5 with a foot injury

• Underwent successful surgery on 8/28/09 to repair a stress frac- ture in his left foot

ADDITIONAL CAREER STATS

His definition of an O-lineman: “The ultimate team player. They never touch the ball or score points or get highlights on Sports- Center. But no one else is going to get that done unless we do our job.”

Favorite O-lineman: Russ Grimm. “I like his style, he was nasty. He wasn't super gifted, but he was relentless on the field. I re- ally enjoy watching his highlight tapes.”

Nobody is perfect: Was one pitch away from firing a perfect game in high school. With two outs in the 7th inning, a fly ball to left field was misplayed and ended his bid for the perfect game. “I had a knuckle ball, but I mostly relied on strictly fast- balls.” IN THE TRENCHES YEAR TEAM GP/GS 2005 Phil 4/4 2006 Phil 16/16 2007 Phil 16/15 2008 Phil 16/15 2009 Phil 10/10 Totals 62/60 Playoffs YEAR TEAM GP/GS 2006 Phil 2/2 2008 Phil 3/3 Totals 5/5

The Eagles primary kickoff returner with a role at cornerback, Ellis Hobbs suffered a neck injury on 11/8/09 and was placed on the In- jured Reserve list on 11/11/09. Originally drafted by New England in the third round of the 2005 NFL draft (84th overall), Hobbs was acquired by the Eagles in a 2009 draft day trade after spending his first four seasons as a member of the New England Patriots.

• Has three career kickoff return TDs - one in each of the last three seasons from 2006-08. He and Browns WR Joshua Cribbs are the only two players in the NFL to do so

• Set an NFL record in 2007 by returning a kickoff 108 yards for a TD • Has registered 11 career INTs (nine regular season) and 2.5 sacks,

and has missed just one game in his NFL career

INJURY REPORT

• Underwent a successful anterior cervical decompression and fu- sion for a herniated disk on 12/7/09

• Was placed on the Injured Reserve list on 11/11/09 with a neck- injury and will undergo surgery

• Suffered a stinger in the 4th quarter vs. Dal (11/8/09), and was sidelined for the remainder of the game

BIRDSEED

• Went back to school in the 2009 offseason to earn his degree in Arts and Design. Hobbs, who grew up wanting to be an animator for Walt Disney, began drawing as a young child. “I learned how to draw from my father. Drawing is something that really has always been in my family as long as I can remember,” said Hobbs. “My dad used to draw pictures of a lot of things and he is amazing at it, and I used to mimic his drawings when I was a kid. I won sev- eral art contests growing up that my dad put me in touch with, and I really just love it. Since then, I have gotten into animation and graphic design, and I hope to take my talents into that field when my playing days are over.”

• Hosted the fourth annual “Ellis Hobbs Invitational” track event at his alma mater DeSoto High School in the 2009 offseason. Will also host a new event at DeSoto entitled the “Eagle Olympics,” which will be similar to the Special Olympics. All of the proceeds from each event are raised for the high school
