A Wärtsilä 34 GasCube plant consists of multiple of engine modules designed to meet a total power need of 6–30 MW. A GasCube based on the Wärtsilä 16V34SG or Wärtsilä 20V34SG, with all the auxiliaries and components needed to make up a working power production unit, provides 7–10 MWe per unit. Due to the self-contained design, the GasCube is the optimal solution for agile, streamlined and exceptionally cost efficient project execution.

GAS GENSETS

Gensets based on the 34SG engines are normally transported as complete units, i.e. with the engine and its generator readily mounted on a common base frame. If required by the logistics of the project, the gensets can also be delivered dismantled into blocks with only engines mounted and generators shipped separately. If necessary, it is possible to deliver the gensets as three separate main blocks: engine, generator and base frame.

Gensets based on the 18V50SG engine are normally delivered for separate mounting of the engine and its generator. Hence, the genset is transported in two blocks, engine mounted on its base frame and generator mounted on its base frame, which allows a considerably reduced transportation weight.

MULTI-FUEL POWER PLANTS

The ability to switch to the most economical, or readiest available, fuel is of great value at a time of fluctuating fuel prices. Furthermore, fuels can be switched while the engine is operating, for example if the gas supply is interrupted. The ability to switch between fuels brings additional value at times of fluctuating fuel prices or unreliable fuel supply. Fuels can be switched freely during operation.

33

Based on the extremely agile and flexible Wärtsilä 34 engine, this solution has been developed for stand-by, emergency and peak load applications. The plant can take and reject load extremely fast, day after day.

The multi-fuel technology can shift between natural gas and any type of liquid fuel, including HFO, on the run. Natural gas pressure of only 5 bar is required. The Ultra Fast start capability only requires a slightly higher preheating temperature, cyclic slow turning to be performed and hydrostatic lubrication of the generator.

MULTI-FUEL POWER PLANT

Due to the high efficiency, flexibility and outstanding reliability of the Wärtsilä 46GD engine, this solution is perfect for flexible baseload applications including daily starts and stops.

The ultimate GD technology can shift between natural gas, crude oil and liquid fuels and even run in a fuel sharing mode where the fuels are mixed in the cylinder.

MULTI-FUEL GENSETS

Gensets based on the 32GD and 34DF engines are normally transported as complete units, i.e. with the engine and its generator readily mounted on a common base frame. If required by the logistics of the project, the gensets can also be delivered dismantled into blocks with only engines mounted and generators shipped separately. If necessary, it is possible to deliver the gensets as three separate main blocks: engine, generator and base frame.

Gensets based on the Wärtsilä 46GD/50DF engines are normally delivered for separate mounting of the engine and its generator. Hence, the genset is transported in two blocks, engine mounted on its base frame and generator mounted on its base frame, which allows a considerably reduced transportation weight.

LIQUID FUEL POWER PLANTS

Wärtsilä liquid fuel power plants represent high efficiency and low emissions.

Proven long-term reliability makes these plants suitable for stationary and floating baseload, and for stand-by applications.

The specific benefits for liquid fuel power plants include:

z

zFuel flexibility, the ability to run on heavy fuel oil, light fuel oil, crude oil, emulsified fuels or liquid biofuel

z

zAgile dispatch, able to supply megawatts to grid within 20 seconds, 140 seconds to full plant load
