Shortcut Method
4. For the KPAsro (3.1 or 3.0 etc) users who own the ADB 4.0 data SW, a converter program of the ADB chart details into the KPAstro is available to download at this website of the Free KPE-zine –

5. However, for the ADB chart data, which are now available at the following link, --- http://www.astro.com/astro- databank/Main_Page
are to be manually entered into any KP chart making SW as explained below. SWs with ACS Atlas
6. The SWs equipped with the Astro Communications Services (ACS) atlas usually will show the relevant latitude and longitude and time zone, after manually entering the name, gender, date of birth, time of birth and place of birth. Any other SW will also show the relevant latitude and longitude and time zone, if the place of birth (city) is in the SW’s built-in atlas. (For US cities it is necessary to choose the relevant state.) Any slight difference in the latitude and longitude can be adjusted as required or preferred. If there is a doubt, it can be checked with the Google Earth map, if the place under consideration is there.
7. In order to get the accurate positions of cusps and planets, it is better to directly enter the preferred ayanamsa value, for instance the KPNA, before calculation (other than adjusting the cuspal and planetary positions by the difference of ayanamsa value used in calculation and the KPNA value).
Check Points
8. The check point figures for the correctness of the data entry are at the top right hand side of the natal chart (Placidus) , i.e.
Time (of birth) 23:11 Universal Time 17:41 Sid. Time 03:01:06
and Ascendant Le 20:05:15 (in sayana) at the bottom left hand side of the chart.
9. If the chart details are correctly entered, the SW is to provide more or less the same Sidereal Time 03:01:06 and Ascendant position Cn 27:28:01 (= Le 20:05:15 minus KPNA 22:37:14).. If the Sidereal Time or Ascendant position is significantly different, it is required to check the data entry and make the necessary correction. Any SW
10. In the cases where the place of birth (city) is not found by the SW’s built-in atlas, whether ACS or any other, the latitude and longitude of the city and time zone are to be entered manually, for example:

11. The Time Zone for the Local Mean Time (LMT) can be calculated from the time figures given at the top right hand side of the natal chart (Placidus) i.e.
Time (of birth) 0:23
Universal Time 19:09, 11 May Sid. Time 15:40:15
TZ = 0:23 (12 May) minus 19:09 (11 May) = 5:14 (OR long. 78.5 multiply by 4 min = 314 min = 5h:14m)
12. Here it is to note that the TZ 5:30 East (5:30 East of GMT, i.e. GMT + 5:30) is shown with minus sign (-) 5:30 in the Western ADB 4.0 SW but in our Eastern practice it is shown with the plus sign (+) 5:30. and the TZ 5h West (5h West of GMT, i.e. GMT – 5h) is shown with plus sign (+) 5:00 in the Western ADB 4.0 SW but in our

13. Another thing to note is that the TZ 5:30 is shown as 5:30 (in hour and minute) in some SWs like Sri Raichur’s SW, JHora, Astraura, Smart Horary (KP) Astrology but 5.50 (in full hour and decimal hour) in some SWs like KPAs- tro, AstroSage or MyKundli, KPStarOne. So it should be careful to enter the minute portion of the TZ correctly, depending on the SW used. Here TZ 5:14 East is to be converted to 5.2333h East, if necessary.
Easy and Safe Way
14. For any Time Zone, LMT or TZ East or TZ West or TOB Standard Time or Day Light Saving Time (DST) what ever it may be, the easy and safe way is to enter the “Universal Time” (here GMT) and “TZ GMT” or Zero into the SW. The Universal Time is shown in the second line at at the top right hand side of the natal chart (Placidus), in the Indira Gandhi’s chart, i.e. 19:09 of 11 May 1895.
15. Another way is to use IST derived from the Universal Time plus 5:30 with TZ 5:30 East or 5.50 East, in our example 19:09 of 11 May 1895 plus 5:30 = IST 0:39 of 12 May 1895.
Some Notes
16. It is to enter the latitude and longitude what is given with East or West, North or South, for instance West longitude for the US cities, South latitude for African cities, South latitude and West longitude for Latin American cities etc.
17. It is to note that the Day Light Saving Time is already adjusted in the chart details, for example: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Blair%2C_Tony

Note: The standard TZ is GMT, i.e. h0w but here the TZ is given as h1e because of 1 h adjustment for the DST, which is 1h ahead of the standard time. In the SW TZ, the TZ GMT with DST 1h (as automatically shown by the ACS atlas) and TZ h1e with the Standard Time (which can be entered manually) are the same. Such kind of the correct TZ combination is required to get the correct Sid. Time of the check point.

18. In the case of only one TZ countries, if the required city is not found by the SW’s built-in atlas, the capital of the country or another well known city can be entered to apply the built-in TZ system and then to adjust the latitude and longitude and the name of city as required, for example:
