Digital Educational Teacher Academy - DETA

The DETA program addresses the need for staff

development in the critical area of integrating technology into the curriculum. Now in its third year, the DETA has trained over 1,700 teachers. DETA is now largely rolled- out through a process were “whole schools” participate. In this way, capacity is reached at an individual school at a faster rate. An outside evaluation is conducted yearly on this program. DETA is also offered to all teachers so that any teacher who wants to sign up for the course is given the opportunity and is not exclusively offered on a “whole school” basis. In this way, equal access to all teachers who want to participate is ensured. A DETA Learning Community program is made available to all DETA teachers as a mentoring, coaching and follow-up component of the initial DETA training.
