57 LB | TRAVIS LONG
A collegiate standout at Washington State, Travis Long was signed by the Eagles during training camp in 2013. A four-year starter with the Cougars, Long finished his collegiate career with 201 tackles and 20.5 sacks. In 2014, Long tore the ACL in his left leg during the preseason finale in 2014 and was placed on Injured Reserve on 8/30/14 and will also miss the 2015 season with an ACL injury.
BIRDSEED
• Long capped off a successful college career with a breakout year as a senior, recording a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2012. However, Long suffered a torn ACL in his second-to-last game. “It was really un- fortunate timing for me,” said Long. “I wanted to be out there playing, first and foremost. But, I wasn’t invited to the combine and I couldn’t perform at our Pro Day. So, I think NFL teams kind of forgot about me.” Long did not get drafted or signed as a rookie free agent. Instead, he kept rehabbing and waiting for that call. It finally came in the middle of the summer. “My doctors cleared me in July and the Eagles got on the phone with me pretty much right away. It was a dream come true.”

42 S | CHRIS MARAGOS
One of the top special teams players in the league, Chris Maragos took a long and arduous road to even reach the NFL. He made it despite not receiving any offers to play football coming out of high school or any sort of ranking on Rivals. He walked on at both Western Michigan and Wisconsin as a receiver and received a scholarship offer for only his final season with the Badgers. He joined the 49ers as a rookie free agent in 2010 with a signing bonus of $4,000 but be- come a special teams standout during a three-year tenure with Seattle from 2011-13, which included a Super Bowl championship. He joined the Eagles after signing a three-year contract in 2014 and led the team with 14 special teams tackles.
BIRDSEED
• Credits his father, Nick, for instilling the relentless work ethic he possesses. “We never stopped prac- ticing when I was growing up,” said Chris, who was coached by his father in little league football. “We’d play catch with the football for hours in our cul-de- sac and then he’d hit ground ball after ground ball to me on many hot summer days. He taught me all about work ethic, commitment and character.” • When asked who he tries to model his game after
in the NFL, Maragos quickly responded with Mat- thew Slater and Earl Thomas. “Matthew plays the game with so much character, integrity and heart and Earl excels in the mental aspect of the game. He’s always pressing the issue on and off the field.” • Played with E.J. Biggers and Louis Delmas while at
Western Michigan
• Trains with former Badgers and current NFLers DeAndre Levy, Nick Hayden, J.J. Watt, and Kevin Zeitler at NX Level in Waukesha, WI in the offseason
