SUBJECT: GOVERNING BOARD’S SELF-EVALUATION
BACKGROUND
At its April 10, 2013 meeting, Governing Board President Scott Swendiman appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to review the Board’s self-evaluation process and instrument. The Ad Hoc Committee recommended the same process ^ be used as presented in Board Policy and Administrative Pro-cedure 2745. The self-evaluation instrument will be the same as used in prior years; however, a question regarding community relations has been added. The revised self-evaluation instrument will be distributed at this Board meeting.
According to BP 2745 – Board Self-Evaluation: “If an instrument is used, all Board members will be asked to complete the evaluation instrument and submit them to the Board President. A sum-mary of the evaluations will be presented and discussed at a board session scheduled annually between the spring and fall semesters for that purpose. The results will be used to identify accom-plishments in the past year and set goals for the following year.”
The completed self-evaluation instruments will be discussed at the Governing Board’s annual re-treat scheduled for June 29, 2013. Following the rere-treat, the results will be compiled and summa-rized, and distributed at a subsequent regular Board meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
^The Superintendent/President recommends the Board take action at this time to adopt the self-evaluation process and revised instrument.
