3. In the order of the strength of samdharmi relations (point 5 of the lesson), you have only defined this for functional samdharmis. What is the strength of natural samdharmiship?
Answer: There is no difference in the strength of natural samdharmi.
4. In point 9, you have mentioned about Jupiter. Is this only for marriage or true for all affairs in general. That is, is Jupiter in Libra bad for all affairs or only for marriage? I think in your previous mails, it was only for marriage. I just want to reconfirm.
Answer: Jupiter in Libra, is bad for marriage, even it does not give much better results for the 4th, 2nd, 12th and 8th house. In other things these houses play an important role.
In that case, the result is not achieved in full strength. For marriage, the result is not good.
In my opinion, marriage is a very important event of the life. If it is disturbed, the person may not be able to show his full efficiency. If we consider the result for the 3rd house, the 7th house is C, and the 10th is A. So, for every successful person, the 7th house has an important role.
5. In point 10, you mention that the 6th lord (except for house 1 and 9), will not act as samdharmi to any planet. However, in previous clarifications, you have generally spared Sun and Moon from the defects of 6th lord. Is that exception for Sun and Moon valid here also? That is, do Sun and Moon act as samdharmi even if they are 6th lords?
Answer: The Sun and the Moon should not be considered as 6th lord. They may give bad results, but not due to being the 6th lord.
6. In point 11, you say that any planet getting any points from 6th lord will not act as samdharmi. Is this for all houses? Also, do Sun and Moon have a special status here if 6th lords? What if the planet is samdharmi to the 6th lord itself? Will it not act for the 6th lord? What about a planet which is conjunct the 6th lord? Will it not act as a samdharmi to any other planet?
Answer: If any planet becomes powerful due to the sight of the 6th lord, or being placed in the 10th house from the 6th lord with less points, then for good results, this planet should not be considered. Sun and Moon should not be treated as 6th lord. They do not
adhere to any quality of the sixth lord.
7. You mention the same restrictions for the lord of 12th from B as for the 6th lord. What about the Sun and Moon? Are they exceptions?
Answer: The Sun and the Moon are not considered as sixth lord. As 12th lord, they will behave as other planets do. For example: If the Sun is the sixth lord and is situated in the 7th house, here it will act as the 12th from the 7th house, so the native will experience some deficit in the marital relations. Even if the Sun or the Moon are the 9th lords and are situated in 10th house, it will reduce the success of the person.
8. We know from earlier lessons that the most malefic planet in a house gets the points of the planet/s in 4th from it. However, for samdharmi relationship, is the planet in 4th samdharmi to every planet in the 10th with less than 4 points or only to the most malefic one?
Answer: If more than one planet is situated in one sign, they all become samdharmi. The planet which is situated in the 4th place becomes samdharmi to the planet having minimum points.
LESSON 26
Using Multiplication Table to Assess Strength Factor For Planets We can normally find the strength of the planets from the Ashtakvarga by using the work sheet for each and every house. If any planet gets 12 points, we can conclude that this will not give a malefic result. When the planet is situated in any particular sign, the strength of the result is in accordance to the sign that the planet is placed in.
Generally, this multiplication method is not applied as a rule for finding the date of the event, but if this IS applied, it can give further insight and a clearer idea.
This will also show you how a planet that is not getting the highest points can come forward to give the better result.
The following table gives the multiplication factor, meaning that the total strength of a planet in each sign should be multiplied by this factor. The figure we arrive at will be the actual strength factor of the planet.
Ari Tau Gem Can Leo Vir Lib Sco Sag Cap Aqu Pis
Example: Let’s say that the Sun is in Taurus, and for the particular house it is in, it is getting 24 points. If we look in the above table for the Sun in Taurus, we can see that the multiplying factor is 0.5 (in blue), So the strength factor will be 24X 0.5 = 12. Now suppose Mars is in Aries, and for a particular house it is in, it has 12 points, so in this case the strength factor will be 12 X 1.4 = 16.8. From this we can assess that the result given by Mars (16.8) will be better (stronger) than the Sun (12).
Please note that this has nothing to do with the timing of an event. Do not confuse these two methods! The timing of different events is ruled by the Sun. This means that the event will be in the sub period of the Sun. In the sub period of Mars, the results pertaining to that house will be better than the Sun.
LESSON 27
How To Find the Timing Event
I think that every body has followed so far, how to calculate the strength of the planets for each and every house.
All the good and beneficial results are achieved in the sub periods of powerful planets and in the sub of lord of D and E and samdharmi to these planets.
If the result is not good or not beneficial, the result may be experienced in the planet having less points. This is experienced particularly for marriage.
For divorce, no children, or the death of the life partner, marriage may be in the sub of the planet having less points. Similar results may be assumed for other events of the life. (sometimes, we may fail here in finding the timing event, because we never go for a bad result.) A chart with a delayed marriage sometimes gets the result in the planet having less points, but a person does not find happiness with such a relationship.
Only the event of Death happens in the sub of a planet having more points, or the planet has less points for the 3rd house and more points in the 8th house.
(The 3rd house is life and the 8th is death)
Some results are time bound, and depend upon the age factor, while other results are dependent upon various factors such as child birth, which should be after marriage and not before.
In considering all the points, we must ascertain the sub period for any event.
Once the sub period is fixed, then the second point is to find the probable date.
Here we can take the help from the Sun’s transit. The Sun is boss of all the planets.
The event happens when the transit of the Sun is in the constellation and the sign of powerful planets. For this we have a chart indicating the date of the event.
We have already studied that the events indicated by any house depends upon counting 6 houses in a backward direction, or 8 houses in a forward direction to arrive at the same point. If we start from the 7th house as a focus house (B), the house of marriage, it depends upon the 2nd house (House A), and the 2nd house, depends upon the 9th house (count 8 houses from House A), which depends upon 4th house, (Count 8 houses from the 4th, etc.), 4th on 11th, 11th on 6th, 6th on 1st, 1st on 8th, 8th on 3rd , 3rd on 10th, 10th on 5th, 5th on 12th and 12th on 7th . Here we complete the circle.
In the Indian culture, generally the sequence is 7th , then 12th , then 5th, (counting forward in increments of 6 houses at a time). Sometimes, in the western culture, it goes in a reverse direction, for example, the 5th, then 12th and lastly the 7th. For a love marriage, a similar sequence is involved. The 5th for friendship, the 12th for coming closer, and then the 7th, for converting the relationship into a life partnership.
Now, for finding the event for marriage, the 2nd house is an important one. So the transit of the Sun should be with the planet having good points in the 2nd house along with 7th house. We must study the status of each and every planet, its lordship, and the power gained due to the planets. ( if the power is gained due to 12th lord from 7th, it should be discarded. ) This portion has already been given in detail, so I do not want to repeat it.
Once the sub period is fixed, and if it satisfies other conditions, ( i.e., age, if delay is indicated, etc.) then we should select other two planets which are second and third in strength. This way we have 3 planets. One is used for the Sub, and the other two for the transits. Here we must not neglect the first planet, it may come again in transit, due to more power, lordship of either D or E, or being samdharmi to other powerful planets. ( if these planets are lord of Moon, lagna lord or the constellation lord, they may come forward).
Some planets can not come together, for example, Saturn and Mercury, because there is no sign ruled by Saturn which has is in the Nakshatra of Mercury, or vice versa.
One thing we must consider is that these planets should have at least 12 points for the 2nd house.
There is a chart, in discussion, in the SATVA group. Date of Birth 4th Jan 1966.
Birth time 5:20 pm (GMT +1) at Schona 49N52, 08E39 . Cancer Lagna 0:59.
(See Figure 1).
This is a chart of a delayed marriage, because it is has zero points in the 2nd and 8th house, due to the Moon and Saturn respectively. He can marry in a Venus Sub in the last phase, which means after the 13th May 2005, to 3rd April 2006.
Now, other planets for transit can be Mars and Saturn, which can be possible in Scorpio 3:20 to 16:40, or in Capricorn, the last 6:40 degrees and the start of Aquarius at 6:40. From this we can find the date which comes to the 18th of Nov to the 1st of Dec, 2005 or the 9th of Feb to the 21st of Feb, 2006.
He is jobless, his work situation being indicated by Mars and Mercury. So he can go for military, police or similar work in the current period of 3rd April to 15th April.
His father passed away in the son’s Ju-Ju dasa (Figure 1), on December 24, 1995. (Sun’s transit in Sagittarius with Jupiter, Mars and Mercury. See Figure 3).
Jupiter is lord of E for the father’s death (Figure 1), and is samdharmi to Venus in the Navamsha chart (Figure 1).
Note that Sun, Mars and Mercury and Jupiter have less points in the 11th house, the house of life. See Figure 2).
In this way we can find two or three dates for a event. In considering the status of the planets, we can finalize the date for pin point accuracy.

LESSON 28
Houses for Various Educational Degrees
There are certain specific houses in the chart that should be considered when a person gets an educational degree or is doing any sort of post graduate work, for example.
When analyzing the chart and trying to select the houses for a degree and/or post graduate work that increases the status of the individual, it would require looking at the 6th, 10th and 5th houses, as well as their significators. The 6th house increases the status, the 10th house represents the profession which is shown from the lagna, while the 5th house represents the degree itself. We can also include the 9th house for advanced and/or spiritual learning.
But before you can delve into the degree, the intelligence of the person has to be gauged as the person’s success or failure would depend on it. The karaka for intelligence is Saturn and if the lagna lord, the Sun and the Moon are in a Saturnian sign in the Navamsha, Drekkhana and Trimsamsha, then the person will be very intelligent. The 4th house stands for knowledge while the 5th stands for the degree itself. For an educational institution that doesn’t give a degree, the 12th house and the 9th house would have to be studied for spirituality and higher learning.
Sometimes we find that a person may be very intelligent, but the dasa running at that point in his life might not be favorable at all and although a person is inclined to study engineering for example, because of this unfavorable dasa, he may not get admitted into a college for engineering. The strengths of the Navamsha lords of the 10th house from the Sun, lagna and the Moon need to be studied.
What may be a good education or level of education in one country, may be totally different in another and this should be taken into consideration when studying these various factors in the chart as well.
So in order to sum up the various houses and what to look for when studying the education and the degrees, we can say:
Education, Knowledge 4th House
Post Graduation 9th House
Graduation, Degree 5th House
6th House 10th House Advanced / Spiritual Learning 9th House
12th House
For passing any sort of examination, one should look for favorable transits and periods in the 5th house.
To know about a person’s intellectual capacity, one should look for:
1) Lagna in Saturn’s sign in the Navamsha, Drekkhana and Trimsamsha 2) Moon in Saturn’s sign in the Navamsha, Drekkhana and Trimsamsha 3) Sun in Saturn’s sign in the Navamsha, Drekkhana and Trimsamsha
By studying these factors above, you can better gauge the intellect of a person and try to select a favorable planet in the 5th house for being able to pass an exam successfully.
Factors indicating hard work in a chart:
1) Mars is responsible for hard work.
2) More points in the 10th house indicate hard work.
3) Moon in the sign or Navamsha of Mars gives more hard work.
Saturn, on the other hand, is an indicator of laziness.
The sub dasa lord must have good strength in all the houses as this will be most preferable for a good outcome.
There is a difference between knowledge and getting a degree. Sharpness of the mind or having a photographic memory falls under Saturn.
For post graduation, the karaka is the Moon. If Venus and Mercury are powerful for the 9th house, post graduation is possible. For this also, the person must also have a sharpness of mind. In the natal chart, the Navamsha, Trimsamsha and the Dreshkona divisional charts, if the lagna, Sun and Moon are situated in the division of Saturn in at least 3 places (out of 12), it will indicate the mental sharpness of the person and can give the individual a photographic memory.
LESSON 29
Results of Planets With More Points in Different Houses Up until now, we have talked about finding different timed events concerning the results indicated by the different houses. Now, we will study the results of the planets placed in different houses. We will consider for now, the charts with an
