Subject specific learning outcomes

Generic learning outcomes

A synopsis of the curriculum

Aims:

This Independent themed Project Report is a key element of the BA (Hons) Business Studies programme. The module is structured to allow students the opportunity to draw together a substantial proportion of the knowledge and understanding gained during the programme and apply it to the completion of a vocationally relevant business project.

All students will have different interests as have, where relevant, their employers. It is intended that this course be flexible enough to accommodate the needs of a diverse student population whilst enabling each student to fulfil the overall aims of the course.

Content:

This module allows students to complete a major business related project, using the knowledge, skills and abilities that they have gained during the programme.

The module allows students to build on the experience gained from the study skills module to develop of their academic skills by completing a vocationally relevant project.

Students will complete a project plan and literature review followed by the completed project report.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Students will be supported throughout the project process with a series of planned and informal tutorials which will be arranged as required.

The tutorials will follow the evolving project, offering support to the student at a pace and level of progress appropriate to the students development. Students will be expected to use the knowledge and skills gained during the programme to identify, plan and complete the project and to reflect upon their learning and apply that learning to the project issue or problem.

The tutorials contribute specifically to Specific Learning Outcomes 1, 4-6 and Generic Learning Outcomes 1-4. The independent study contributes to Specific Learning Outcomes 1-6 and Generic Learning Outcomes 5-9.
