4.5.1 Métodos de procesamiento de la información.
The Office of World Languages improves student achievement through the design, implementation, and assessment of ESOL, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, and Spanish curricula, Pre-K through Grade 12. In addition, the office oversees the
identification and selection of appropriate textbooks/resources and provides support and training to teachers. Further, the office staff assesses and identifies English language learners and works collaboratively with schools and community groups to coordinate and deliver services to immigrant families. The ESOL Program provides the opportunity for all English language learners to fully gain access to programs and services provided by the state and local education agencies so that English language learners can achieve to high standards in both English language proficiency and content mastery to be successful at the postsecondary level and/or when entering the workforce. GT and AP courses are scheduled wherever enrollments justify.
Note: AP courses include an in-depth study of the structure, vocabulary, and culture of the language along with the processes necessary for success on the exam. Because these courses are designed to prepare students to take an AP exam for college credit, students are expected to take the test.

Intermediate English Language Learners have either entered Baltimore County Public Schools with an intermediate level of English proficiency or have progressed through the ESOL program to this level. These students combine ESOL courses from those listed above determined by individual student needs with mainstream classes.
Level III (Advanced) ESOL Course
Course Number: 31.3030.0 EFL III (DN, LN, PR, OM, WD) Prerequisite: For students who have not met the ESOL program exit criteria in reading and writing in Level I and II ESOL.

Note: This course meets the foreign language graduation requirement.
EFL III is designed to offer additional support for students who have not met ESOL program exit criteria in reading and writing.
WORLD LANGUAGES ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES
Advanced Placement world languages courses are scheduled whenever they are justified by enrollment. Each advanced placement course includes an in-depth study of the structure, vocabulary, and culture of the language along with the processes necessary for success on the exam. Because these courses are designed to prepare students to take an AP exam for college credit, students are expected to take the test.
