People turn to majick for money, success and prosperity all the time, not realizing that a truly wise Witch knows the secrets of prosperity, and that our mysteries are different from the ideas of popular culture. Witches have always been on the outside of the village, at the edge, helping people as

priestesses and counselors. This ability to see things from a different perspective gives us an advantage when navigating the successes and challenges of money and teaches us how to truly prosper with the use of majick.

Modern culture tells us that to be truly successful and prosperous we need to have a large house with every possible amenity there is, a million or more dollars in the bank, and a fancy car in the

driveway. Our image for a successful life is outrageously undoable and unhealthy. If everyone succeeded, our planet would be in worse shape than it already is, and we would have created a model of success that can neither be reached by all nor sustained over the long term of our culture. Everyone follows this model because everyone has been hypnotized by the mass media. Our role models become those seemingly glamorous and famous figures on television, movies, and the music industry. People seek to become those figures, not realizing that stories and songs about human

relationships, families, and the possibilities of seemingly ordinary life are really the places where we can identify, as the world of fame is illusionary. But no one wants to identify with the characters in the primetime sitcom with everyday problems and mishaps when there are rich and famous figures to emulate. Yet how many of those figures are happy? How many are satisfied? Our tabloids are filled with stories of their own personal tragedies and misfortunes, and it doesn’t seem like all their money and fame brings them true happiness and success.

People are usually not satisfied with their own condition in life. They believe the images that

massive levels of financial success will make them happy. They believe that if they don’t seek it out, there must be something wrong with them. They allow their jobs, homes, cars, and bank accounts to become the problem rather than looking within for the problem. A desire to want to be successful and improve one’s financial situation is great, but what is the motivation? Even though the values of

modern consumer cultures have become global, those values don’t exist everywhere. There have been people and places, and there still are, where people know how to prosper in harmony. They are not unhappy due to their lack of luxury; instead, they look at luxury as a perk. Happiness and success become more of a state of mind than a number in a bank account. You can be happy, healthy, and successful and live a life of meaning and satisfaction without millions of dollars. Happiness is found in doing what you love and loving life. Creating a life you love that can provide a means of support is the true mystery of prosperity majick.

To be prosperous is to be aware, daily, of how you are living and how you are feeling. Do you feel happy? Do you feel good? Are you comfortable and satisfied when you go to bed at night? If not, why not? With that awareness, you move towards slow growth. Think of the plants that are prospering under the light of the Sun and the rain of the sky. Do they suddenly grow six feet in one day? No, they slowly move towards the light, grow strong and bear fruit over a season. We reap the fruits of our harvest, literally and metaphorically. Many prosperous actions start as little seeds that take time to grow and require patience, care, and nourishment. The get-rich-quick schemes many people seek have no place in nature.

Prosperity grows through gratefully realizing what you already have. This is one of the greatest teachings. Are you thankful for all the things you have? We take many things for granted, particularly in modern American culture, yet there are many people—both around the world and right around us— that do not share in our good fortune. When you go to bed at night, are you thankful for the roof over your head and the bed you are sleeping in? You could be sleeping in the streets, with no bed, no home, and no food. Prosperity is relative, based upon what we have allowed ourselves to be

programmed to believe prosperity is. A big part of any majickal training is learning to un-brainwash yourself, to see things as they really are and decide what beliefs and programs we want to retain or create, and which ones no longer serve our highest good.

With that understanding, I don’t think there is anything wrong with having a luxurious four-thousand- square-foot house with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, three garages, and even an elevator, if you have worked for it. If your life purpose leads you to that level of earning and life style, then by all means, you can enjoy it responsibility. But don’t base your happiness upon having that, or you’ll find if you no longer have it, your enjoyment of life will change. Luxuries can be

blessings and benefits if we do not base our self-esteem and emotional stability upon them. Objects— or at least our ownership of them, along with all financial resources—are impermanent. Our material fortunes go up and go down, like the Wheel of Fortune. We have times in our lives where it is like the harvest of summer, and other times when it is the cold of winter. That is the reality of life upon Earth, and it’s reflected in our finances, in this life, and across lifetimes. A majickal person knows how to weather these changes. The problem comes when we believe we are entitled to something. We are not entitled to anything, but we can be granted a great deal.

Our karma, the results of our actions from this life and past lives, often influence our prosperity. Karma is not reward and punishment, in terms of an almighty divinity doling out merits and demerits. It is more like the law of gravity. You throw something up in the air, and the consequence is that it falls down. It’s not a punishment or a reward, but simply a consequence. Karma is essentially the same, but much more complicated, as the results are not always that immediate or noticeable as karma spans lifetimes. Majick can help us shape our karma, creating new majickal actions to change our life, but it does not negate our past karma. If your life leads you to a level of immense earning and luxury, then that is your karma. Sometimes people seemingly do not work for wealth; it appears handed to them. It’s a result of past karma. If that is where you should be to experience your karma, it will happen. If it is unnecessary in your life, then you probably won’t have those things. Often our desire to do majick, prosperity or otherwise, is a part of our karmic heritage, and working with the majick helps us work out our karma.

Ultimately, true prosperity is being comfortable in your own skin and your own surroundings, to use the resources that you have to thrive and succeed. The end result of your desire might not require money. Sometimes money is necessary, as we live in a currency-based society. But sometimes it is not necessary. Witches know to use our majick to project for the end result of our intention, and the way it manifests might not require money. We are open to success from many different sources.

Career

Career is immensely important to your prosperity because it is a part of your identity, self-esteem, and ultimately, your purpose or work in the world, though not everyone’s true purpose is found in an area that generates financial compensation. Master Thompson of the Rosicrucian Lodge of Brookline Massachusetts, a very wise man, told me fame and fortune are only an offshoot of your life’s goals. Those using career majick to prosper are looking to create a job where they can love what they do, be successful, and be paid for what they love. As Joseph Campbell says, “Follow your bliss,” which is great advice on many different levels, but certainly applies to both the spiritual journey and

developing a healthy, successful career.

To truly prosper, you need a sense of love or true purpose. Going into a vocation that you hate simply because it’s profitable will not let you prosper. Sure, you might acquire a large bank account, but what does it really do for you? Ultimately it’s disastrous. It never works out, even if you don’t realize it until the end of your life. You have to care about what you are doing.

In the end, what you are doing matters less than your sense of purpose and connection to it. A baker is as valuable as an actor, environmentalist, solider, or banker, if you truly love the work. While the job becomes part of your identity, Witches know that identity in this world comes and goes with each lifetime. What are you here to do now, in this lifetime, in this moment? Passion and love are the keys to success. The prospering plant loves the Sun and reaches out to the light each day. Do you yearn for your own purpose and work? I do. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

When you use majick to project for a career, don’t pick something simply because it is stable what others think you should do. What do you feel called to do? I remember my mother telling me I had to learn to type because at the time, women who wanted to work were secretaries. They needed to know how to type and take shorthand. In that day, it was hard to imagine a woman being a lawyer or doctor. She thought typing was a skill I could always fall back on when I needed it. That was how I was taught, programmed, when I was fifteen years old. But I knew I didn’t love to type. If I had taken the lessons and learned how, I probably would have fallen back on it as a career, and I didn’t want that. I would rather work on a farm than sit behind a desk and work for someone else in an office. I knew in my heart that I wouldn’t love that life. So I consciously decided not to learn how to type. I didn’t take the lessons, much to my mother’s disappointment. But I learned not to limit myself.

If you like to type, if you like the focused work of an office and working in a group environment like that, there is nothing wrong with it. Having the security and salary of an office job can be wonderful if you are called to do it. Anything can be fulfilling and majickal if you are called to do it. Many people are quite happy in this job because it is meant for them.

When I thought of a career that would satisfy me, I knew it had to creative. Many people are so afraid to think outside of what is provided for them by society, yet many of the most majickal and successful people do just that. Whether you are an artist or a CEO of a corporation, it is simply a vocation. So many people are afraid of owning their own business, of venturing out on their own to create the perfect job. I can understand the fear quite well, but being an entrepreneur is very doable. Why not try? Anyone can try it.

A friend of mine was working in an office and hated it. She realized that she loved to paint furniture by picking up discarded furniture found on the side of the road and at yard sales. She would sand the pieces, paint them, and sell them to decorators. This woman could take a beaten-up old chair she got

for free and transform it through her creativity. She started making some money through her hobby, working nights and weekends to just make her office job more bearable. Soon she realized she could make a career out of this. She saved a bit and eventually left her office job and opened her own business, starting in her garage and eventually opening a little shop. She proved to me that there are so many different angles to creating your own blissful career. You can do what you want and enjoy it, but you have to dream, dare, and actually do it. Don’t let fear of failure stop you.

Use your majick to not only have money and acquire the things you desire, but also to plan for your long-term happiness and satisfaction by following your blissful desires. Be thankful for what you have and use that gratitude as a foundation to prosper. Yearn for your purpose. Seek it out and fulfill it, every day.
