Germany:

Standard fare tickets must be issued for cross-border relations. The ticket sale to border stations of third country railway companies is allowed.

Austria:

Tickets must be issued for cross-border relations. The ticket sale from border stations within the rail alliance and to border stations of third country railway companies is allowed and is considered cross-border.

6.1.2 Conditions of use

The Alliance pricing system does not apply to the Berlin-Warszawa Express A journey may be broken as often as the passenger likes during the period of validity.

6.1.3 Route regulations of Deutsche Bahn (DB)

For many DB routes, various alternative routes are permitted and it is generally the longest ones that are saved in the sales system. These are to be considered as the outer boundaries. The continuation of the journey goes via the direct or usual route to the destination.

This is illustrated below with the example of the route Basel – Berlin via Hamburg or Leipzig The journey must take place within the following geographical limits:

∂ To the west:

o Mannheim – Koblenz – Duisburg – Osnabrück – Bremen – Hamburg – Wittenberge ∂ To the east:

o Singen – Ulm – Augsburg – Nuremberg – Leipzig – Lutherstadt Examples of acceptable routes:

∂ Basel – Dortmund – Hanover – Berlin ∂ Basel – Dortmund – Hamburg – Berlin ∂ Basel – Frankfurt – Hanover – Berlin

∂ Basel – Frankfurt – Hamburg – Berlin (the Uelzen – Hamburg section is covered twice) ∂ Basel – Frankfurt – Leipzig – Berlin

∂ Basel – Stuttgart – Leipzig – Berlin

6.1.4 Children

The following applies to all Alliance offers (standard fare and Saver Fare Round trip) in cross- border travel:

Children travelling alone and children not travelling with their own family pay half the standard fare for adults and half the "Saver Fare Round trip" fare for adults (1st person).

The following children's age limits apply: ∂ 6 – 15.99 years for routes in Switzerland ∂ 6 – 14.99 years for routes in Germany ∂ 6 – 14.99 years for routes in Austria

Travel is free of charge for:

∂ Children under 6 without their own seat for the entire journey

∂ Children under 16 (travel must commence on day before 16th birthday at the latest) travel free of charge when accompanied by:

- parents - grandparents

- life partners of a parent (irrespective of gender, evidence of life partnership in question must be provided)

- one accompanying adult suffices

One individual out of the parents, grandparents, single parents, single grandparents, or life partners of parents must be in possession of one of the following tickets:

- Standard fare: Germany, Austria

- Saver Fare Round trip: Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia

- RIT: Passengers with RIT Switzerland

Cross-border tickets with Railticketing Article 6856 must be given for the children travelling free of charge.

There is no limit to the number of own children/grandchildren that may travel.

The family relationship is checked by sales staff / train staff (official proof of identity required). The necessary supplements on night trains are payable by all family members. All compartment categories may be booked on night trains. Children have no claim to their own compartment.

6.1.5 National and international passes for regular customers

The following discounts to the normal fare and the Saver Fare Round trip offer are granted upon presentation of national/international discount cards: (for cross-border tickets only)

Please note: the Saver Fare Round Trip / Standard Fare with Half-Fare and GA travelcards is only valid when the international discount card is shown together with the SwissPass (issue with

Railticketing article 4917).

The following are not recognized as Half-Fare/GA travelcards: Track 7, STS offers, one-day

travelcards for the GA area, one-month GA, Dog GA, municipality one-day travelpass, and all GA types not mentioned in the table.

Tickets issued in Switzerland always indicate what travelcard was produced (BC, VC, Half-Fare or GA travelcard), while BC, VC and Half-Fare travelcard appears on DB tickets. So even if the customer produces a foreign card, the local travelcard is printed on the ticket

6.1.6 Period of validity

Tickets for single trips, return trips and circular trips issued through Railticketing are valid for 15 days.Online tickets via B2P are valid as follows:

∂ two days for the outward journey, two for the return ∂ overall validity limited to one month

tickets are not transferable

6.1.7 Class upgrades

A class upgrade for the Swiss section of the journey is created using the domestic tariff system for each person (Railticketing – Article 125) with no Alliance discount applied.

For cross-border services, a class upgrade is created with Railticketing Article 9257; Alliance discounts apply.

6.1.8 Route changes

For route changes, a ticket with Railticketing Article 2669 is created per person, with no Alliance discount applied.

6.1.9 Journey interruptions

A journey may be broken as often as the passenger likes during the period of validity.

6.1.10 Seat reservation

Within Switzerland, and from Switzerland to all destinations in Germany and Austria, the standard fare does not limit the passenger to any particular train or require any reservation. Passengers may therefore travel on any train they choose. However, customers are strongly advised to make a reservation.
