K. P. & Astrology 2013 (Year Book)

edited by K. Subramaniam Knishman & Co.

www.kpastrology.in

This annual magazine contains thirty one articles by twenty six contributors on various topics as shown by the contents. It has been noticed that there are no articles from some longtime regular contributors like Prof. Vaikari Ramamurthy, T. Rajendra Kumar.

Regarding the references of KP Reader IV and Astro-secrets & K.P. - Part 1 about Kuja Dosha (59 of this year book), it is to note that only the traditional Mars Dosha is ex- plained there but not Mars Dosha in KP. The traditional criteria of Mars Dosha explained in KP Reader IV pages 51-69 ‘up to 4th paragraph’ is the exact reprint of content on pag- es 215-228 of the original Krishnamurti Padhdhati Vol. 2, 1966, Sagar Publications. On the las tpage 69, three paragraphs are added to give a clear opinion that “not Mars alone, any planet can cause such undesirable effect of disagreement, dispute, divorce etc among the couple provided they happen to be deposited in such a position of the signifi- cator of 6 or 10 or 12”. (KP Reader IV page 69, ‘5th paragraph’) Each one will have their own say according to their whims and fancies, and due to this it is the general public pushed to run from pillar to post. (Sri M.P. Shanmugam: Astrosecrets & KP, Part 1, 2003, page 42) (Not to worry about Mars Dosha, see ‘Analysis of Mars Dosa as per KP Princi- ples’, KPE-zine August 2007 and ‘Mars Dosha in KP’, December 2008 issues)

Referring Styajatakam by Sage Satayacharya and based on the natal charts of M. Gan- dhi, Pundit Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Harshad Mehta, Rahu, Saturn and Ketu are con- sidered as karaka planets for imprisonment. If the star lord Rahu of the 12th cuspal sub

karakas. (pages 66-76). But it may not be serious concern as the karaka alone can’t send one to jail without signification of required houses for imprisonment.

For sale of property to fructify 10th cusp sub lord should be a significator of houses 3 or

5 and 11 (pages 82, 131). These are two more valid cases of the common KP rule in practice which considers sale of property from the buyer’s side. (10th is 4th /property/

from 7th /buyer/.)

Why we use Mean position of Rahu and Ketu although we are using all the planets Sun to Saturn in True position (page 88) is that the True nodes are true only twice a month, viz. at the times when the Moon crosses the ecliptic. The Mean nodes are always retro- grade, whilst the True nodes may occasionally be direct, as if it's wobbling.

The divergent views are found regarding remedies. One view Referring Varahamihira's Brihat Samhita Brihat Samhita it is said that KP followers too recommend stones but subject to condition, if they are favorable to their querers. (page 112) Based on Guruji KSK ‘s writings, a conclusion is that performance of Shanti or parihara would not give any beneficial results. Even performance of Shanti would be predestined. (page 147) According to K.N. Rao, these astrologers will say, "Come to me for remedial measures. I'll do graha shanti for you, and change your fate." This is nonsense. How can one man change another man's fate? There are stupid fellows in the country who fall into that trap. Indian astrologers go on and spread this fraud in other countries also. In the USA you'll find people wearing stones and going for these remedial measures. This is all non- sense. Parashara has not prescribed these remedial measures. He has prescribed only mantras like the Vishnu Sahasranam, Mrityunjaya, Durga Saptasati etc., and some charity, which is called `dhan.' In the 17th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, dhan is de- scribed properly….

The article on the KP new ayanamsa titled “In defense of KP ayanamsa” based on M.G.G. Nair's article in Ashritha & Astrology May 1980 issue is found reprinted third time in honor of the author, late Prof. K. Balachandran who passed away on 07.07.2012.

We will miss the analytical articles on the sub-sub theory as both the Duo article con- tributors Dr. K R Kar and Prof. K. Balachandran are no more with us. With due respect we pray that their soul rest in peace.
