Working under the broad direction of the Deputy Director Student Experience and responsive to the Registrar, Student Life, the Manager Student Experience and Career Development works closely with ANU stakeholders to fulfil the objectives of the Divisional strategic plan. The Manager will lead and facilitate a holistic approach to student transition in, through and out of university, and manage teams responsible for the delivery and coordination activities related to transition, extra-curricular engagement, and career development.

Role Statement:

1. Be responsible for the management, budget, and operation of the Student Experience and Career Development (SECD) team in accordance with the vision, mission, strategic plan, policies and regulations of the University.

2. Lead and manage SECD staff to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes, by providing staff with direction, managing resources, assigning tasks, and overseeing staff induction, training, and development to ensure delivery of high quality, efficient services.

3. Design, implement, market, and manage integrated and institution-wide SECD activities and programs that enhance and enrich the student experience in, through and out of the university. 4. Lead the liaison with relevant internal and external stakeholders on student transition and career

development issues, collaborating on initiatives that prepare students for their study and career. 5. Monitor, survey, and review activities and programs, reporting on SECD achievements and

promoting staff expertise to the ANU community.

6. Provide advice to the Registrar Student Life, Deputy Registrar, other DSL Managers, and contribute to strategic planning relating to the delivery of a diverse range of services and activities at different

stages of the student lifecycle, at the Divisional, College, and University level.

7. Undertake research and data analysis, and prepare project reports, conference papers and briefs to support strategic planning and the continuous improvement and innovation of service delivery. 8. Carry out other related duties as required by the Deputy Director Student Experience and work

collaboratively towards the strategic objectives of the institution.

9. Provide leadership in the active compliance with all ANU policies and procedures, in particular those relating to work, health and safety, and equal opportunity.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Management experience and proven management expertise or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

2. Demonstrated excellent leadership skills in building, leading, motivating and developing team members in a changing environment to deliver consistent, high-quality service, projects and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

3. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply appropriate, research-based, best practice pedagogy for the design, development, provision, evaluation and improvement of university-level programs and initiatives focusing on student transition, extra-curricular engagement, and career development.

4. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including: the ability to liaise effectively at all levels with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds; the capacity to inform, negotiate and persuade on complex matters; and the ability to cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships with a diverse range of University stakeholders.

5. Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills, and a high level of information technology literacy, in particular with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, and the presentation of management information.

6. Demonstrated ability to display initiative and sound judgement, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a multi-faceted and changing work environment.

7. A demonstrated high level of understanding of equal opportunity principles and a commitment to the application of EO principles in a university context.

PURPOSESTATEMENT:

This position will ensure the provision of high-level administrative support to the Manager Access, Inclusion and Wellbeing and ensure delivering of a high quality customer service. This includes managing the front office and first-point-of-contact space, maintaining the day-to-day operations of the area, and responding in a timely and effective way to enquiries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS: Position Dimension & Relationships:

The administrator works within a small team, under the direction of the Manager Access, & Inclusion, and provides professional administrative support for DSC and student equity staff and acts as first point of contact for all students, staff, and visitors seeking assistance/information from the Access & Inclusion unit. While the administrator may have specific responsibilities, from time to time they will work across a range of administrative tasks that support the area of Access & Inclusion.

Role Statement:

1. Coordinate front office functions and proactively provide front desk reception services to students and staff seeking assistance from DSC and Student Equity, including the provision of information on all aspects of service provided by the Access and Inclusion teams.

2. Provide administrative assistance to support the work of the Manger Access, and Inclusion and DSC and student equity staff.

3. Undertake general office duties such as filing, photocopying of resources, monitoring office supplies, preparing correspondence and spreadsheets as directed, and replying to enquiries.

4. Actively engage in ongoing professional development and make a continuing contribution to administrative process improvements.

5. Perform other duties consistent with the classification of the position and in line with the principles
