BIRDSEED

• After a rough childhood in which he was abandoned by his father, Maclin was primarily raised by Jeff Parres and his wife, Cindy. Jeff is a urologist and was Maclin’s little league football coach when he was nine years old. Maclin spent a lot of time with the Parres fam- ily growing up and by the time he was a sophomore in high school, he was living with them full-time. Jeremy also remains close with his biological mother, and his two older brothers, Roshon and Andre.

“There are a lot of people in my life who have influenced me to get to this point,” he said. “Obviously, the family I live with. They def- initely played a big part in why I’m here. I learned a lot of things from my real family, too. Obviously the one above is the real rea- son why I’m here in the first place. All those people prepared me.” • Attended a Phillies game as the guest of slugger Ryan Howard, a fellow Missouri native. “It was cool to be able to meet him. We both grew up in the same area. I never got a chance to play against him or anything like that because he’s a little bit older, but it was- cool to meet him.”

A shifty running back with good vision and big-play ability, LeSean McCoy serves as a valuable counterpart to Brian Westbrook. The Eagles second-round draft choice in 2008, McCoy set the Eagles rookie record in rushing yards and is quickly closing in on the record for scrimmage yards.

2009 HIGHLIGHTS

• His 633 rushing yards on the season is the highest total ever for an Eagles rookie and his 936 yards from scrimmage ranks second • Currently ranks 3rd among all NFL rookies in rushing yards (633)

and 2nd in yards from scrimmage (936)

• Scored his fourth rushing TD of the season on a 2-yard TD run vs. SF (12/20), tying for the third-highest total ever by an Eagles rookie, trailing Steve Van Buren (1944) and Don Johnson (1953), who each had five in their rookie campaigns

• Eclipsed the 100-yard mark in total yards from scrimmage (76 rushing, 25 receiving) for the second time in his career vs. Was. (11/29) and scored the game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter on a shovel pass from Donovan McNabb

• Set a career high with 99 yards on 20 attempts at Chi. (11/22). Also scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard run with 5:31 remaining in the 4th quarter

• Led the team in receptions (5), receiving yards (61) and rushing yards (54) vs. Dal (11/8). Also, had a career high in scrimmage yards (115)

• Had a career-long 66-yard touchdown run vs. NYG (11/1), the longest run by an Eagles rookie since Herman Hunter’s 74-yard touchdown run on 11/24/85 at Dal.

• Scored his first-career touchdown on a five-yard run in the first quarter vs. KC (9/27), and finished the game with a career highs in attempts (20) and rushing yards (184)

• Made his first NFL start vs. NO (9/20)

• Played in his first NFL game at Car. (9/13) and rushed for 46 yards on nine attempts

BIRDSEED

• Nicknamed “Shady” by his mother. “My Mom said I was a shady baby. One minute I’d be smiling, the next I’d be shy. She gave me the nickname and it just kind of stuck.”

• Said Hall of Fame running back and fellow Pittsburgh alum Tony Dorsett of McCoy after meeting him in April of 2008: “This is a special young man. I watched him play and I have to say that since leaving the University, we have had a lot of backs that have come here and people have said, ‘This kid reminds me of Tony Dorsett.’ But, this is the first guy I have seen that reminds me of Tony Dorsett.”

• Remains good friends with former Eagles RB Ricky Watters, as the two both attended Bishop McDevitt HS in Harrisburg, PA • Claims his older brother is his biggest role model. "My brother,

LeRon, just the way he handled himself. He set the bar high for me. He played for the (Arizona) Cardinals (2005-06) and a couple of other teams (San Francisco 49ers, 2007, and Houston Texans, 2008). He was not really recruited out of high school but he went to a Division II school and made it out."
