La Junta de Síndicos tuvo otro buen año al continuar buscando ser buenos mayordomos de los recursos de la Conferencia. Este año pasado hemos atendido asuntos relativos a la propiedad bajo nuestro cuidado y provisto subsidios para ayudar a algunas de nuestras congregaciones a respondes a asuntos de seguros y preparar instalaciones para dar acceso a personas con capacidades diferentes (discapacitadas). Hemos también trabajado con la compañía aseguradora de la conferencia para asegurarnos que adquirimos el mejor de los seguros para la propiedad, riesgos, y de compensación para el trabajo con el propósito de proteger a todos nuestros pastores y pastoras, personal, y voluntarios de todas nuestras iglesias que viven involucrados en ministerios.
En la reunión de nuestra junta del 10 de agosto del 2013 en el Southwest Texas Conference Center, elegimos a los siguientes oficiales: Rev. Maximino Perez, Presidente; German Gallardo Jr., Vice-Presidente; Elizabeth Jimenez, Secretaria. Margie Trafton continuará siendo la Tesorera de los Síndicos.
Otros miembros para el ciclo 2013-2014 son: Rev. Francisco Campos, Representante del Gabinete, María Vela, Gloria Rivera, Rev. Santiago Heredia, Héctor Martínez, Rev. Liliana Padilla, Rev. Abraham Ramírez, Elva Garza, David Ancira, y Martin Piña.
Los Síndicos se reunieron en persona el 30 de octubre del 2013, el 18 de noviembre del 2013, el 15 de enero del 2014, y el 29 de marzo del 2014. También conducimos varias conferencias telefónicas para votar sobre asuntos puntuales relativos a la venta de propiedades, aprobación de las cuotas, y otros asuntos. El uso de los recursos electrónicos y las telecomunicaciones nos han permitido presentar la información necesaria para la toma de decisiones sin tener que incurrir en los gastos que reuniones en persona pueden arrojar.
Los Síndicos de las Conferencias del Río Grande y Southwest Texas se reunieron conjuntamente el 28 de agosto del 2013 y el 13 de marzo del 2014.
Metas 2014:
1. Continuar trabajando en la implementación y la coordinación del trabajo y las metas establecidas según lo ha aprobado nuestra conferencia en el Plan de Unificación de las Conferencias del Río Grande y Southwest Texas. 2. Continuar trabajando y manteniendo nuestro programa de seguros, negociando y afanándonos por para alcanzar primas de seguro de bajo costo, promover esfuerzos de prevención de accidentes para bajar el riesgo contra nuestra Conferencia y otros asuntos que pudiesen provocar que nuestras primas de seguro aumentasen.
3. Continuar administrando propiedades bajo nuestro cuidado poniendo especial atención a las propiedades que los Síndicos han administrado ya por largo tiempo.

Seguro Grupal a Nivel Conferencial
Este año pasado, trabajamos con Church Mutual Insurance para proveer un seguro grupal a nivel conferencial. Esto para satisfacer el trabajo de los síndicos estipulado en el Libro de la Disciplina 2512.8, “los síndicos de la conferencia cargan la autoridad para buscar cobertura grupal de seguro para la conferencia”. También, el Libro de la Disciplina Par. 2533.2 estipula que la iglesia local debe de tener una cobertura de seguro adecuada. Continuaremos trabajando con Church Mutual el próximo año para mantener su servicio al cliente y mejorar en algunas áreas que se precisa mejorar. Trabajaremos con Church Mutual para ayudar a las iglesias locales a identificar áreas dónde se pueda reducir el riesgo para que la conferencia pueda reducir así los reclamos y mejorar además la seguridad de nuestros empleados, feligreses y voluntarios.

Además, para mejor asegurar a nuestra conferencia los síndicos han agregado y sustentado seguro de Riego para los Directores y Oficiales y seguro par Prácticas de Empleo.
Postulado en Relación a Santuario Seguro
Santuarios Seguros continúan siendo parte vital del ministerio de la CRG. Los síndicos celebran que casi todas nuestras iglesias en la conferencia tienen una política de Santuarios Seguros. Animamos a que todos nos aseguremos de que se tengan capacitaciones anuales sobre este asunto para asegurarnos así de que estamos protegiendo a nuestros voluntarios, empleados y a los niños y las niñas y los y las jóvenes de nuestra iglesia.
Logros de los Síndicos de la Conferencia del Río Grande
El 19 de noviembre del 2013 el Equipo de Subvenciones de los Síndicos se reunión para aprobar algunos apoyos a otorgarse en el 2013 en un monto total de $150,000. Después de procesar las correspondientes solicitudes bajo los criterios aprobados, bajo un espíritu de oración y deliberación se evaluaron las solicitudes y se listaron en orden de prioridad bajo los siguientes principios (a) los más cercanos a cumplir con los requisitos (b) los que buscasen cumplir con el propósito de la subvención. Se presentaron un total de 18 propuestas, y las siguientes fueron las iglesias seleccionadas para recibir los montos listados (en un máximo de $15,000):

La relación entre Lydia Patterson y la Conferencia del Río Grande es histórica. Clérigos y líderes laicos nos han bendecido por años. LPI ha
contribuido al legado de la Conferencia del Río Grande educando líderes en nuestra conferencia, los síndicos de la Conferencia del Río Grande votaron unánimemente el contribuir $75,000 en favor de la Campaña de Recaudación de Fondos de Capital del Instituto Lydia Patterson.

REPORT OF THE CONFERENCE BOARD OF TRUSTEES Rev. Maximino V. Perez Jr., Chair
The Board of Trustees have had another good year as we have continued to strive to be good stewards to the resources of the conference. Over this past year, we have dealt with property in our care and provided a grant to help our churches to make improvements needed for insurance and handicap accessibility. We have also worked with the conference insurer to make ensure we have the best conference wide property, liability and workman’s compensation insurance to protect all our pastors, staff and volunteers of all our churches to engage in ministry.
At our annual meeting on August 10, 2013 at the Southwest Texas Conference center, we elected the following officers, Rev. Maximino Perez, chair; German Gallardo Jr., Vice-chair; Elizabeth Jimenez, secretary. Margie Trafton will continue to be the Trustees treasurer.
Other members of the 2013-2014 Trustees: Rev. Francisco Campos, Cabinet Representative, María Vela, Gloria Rivera, Rev. Santiago Heredia, Héctor Martínez, , Rev. Liliana Padilla, and Rev. Abraham Ramírez. Elva Garza and David Ancira, and Martin Piña.
Trustees have met in person on October 30, 2013, November 18, 2013, January 25, 2014, and March 29, 2014. We also conducted several phone conference meetings to vote on specific items dealing with the sale of property, approval of quotes, and for other issues. Utilizing electronic and telecommunication has allowed us to present the information needed to make decision, without incurring the expense and time required for in person meetings.
2014 Goals:
1. To continue working to implement and align the work and goals agreed upon by the conference as directed by the Unification Plan uniting Rio Grande and Southwest Texas Conference.
2. To continue working and maintaining the insurance program, negotiating and working to get us lower premiums, working on prevention to help the conference avoid injuries or other issues that cause premiums to go up.
3. Continue to deal with property in our care, with special focus on the properties that the Trustees have managed for a long period of time.

Conference Wide Group Insurance
This past year, we worked with Church Mutual Insurance to provide conference wide group insurance. This satisfies the work of the trustees by fulfilling the requirement by the book of Discipline, 2512.8, “the Conference Trustees have the ability to seek proper group coverage for the conference”. Also, the Book of Discipline Par. 2533.2 states that the local church should have proper insurance coverage.
We will continue to work with Church Mutual in the next year to maintain customer service and improve areas that are needed. And to work with Church Mutual on helping local churches identify areas where they might reduce risk so that as a conference we can reduce our claims and improve our safety for our employees, worshipers and volunteers.

In addition, to further insure our conference, trustees have added and funded Directors and Officers Liability and Employment Practices insurances.
Statement Regarding Safe Sanctuaries
Safe Sanctuaries continue to be a vital part of ministry in the RGC. The trustees celebrate that nearly all the churches in the conference have a Safe Sanctuary policy. We encourage you to make sure you are conducting Safe Sanctuaries training annually to make sure you are protecting your volunteers, employees as well as the children and youth of your church.
Accomplishments of the Rio Grande Conference Trustees
On November 19, 2013 the Trustees grant team met and set the amount for grants awarded for 2013 at $150,000. After processing the grants for the criteria required, and through prayer and deliberation assessed the grants by ranking them in order of (a) closest to meeting requirements and (b)striving to meet the purpose of the grant. There were a total of 18 grants submitted, and these were the churches selected to receive the amount of grant money the church requested (up to the grant maximum of $15,000):

In additional contribution, the Rio Grande Conference trustees had the opportunity to be part of the Lydia Patterson Institute’s Capital Fund Campaign. The relationship between Lydia Patterson and the Rio Grande Conference is historic. Clergy and lay leaders have blessed us for many years. As LPI has contributed to the legacy of Rio Grande Conference in educating leaders of our conference, the Rio Grande Conference Trustees unanimously voted to contribute to LPI’s Capital Funds Campaign in the form of $75,000.

Resolution Regarding Completion of Legal Work of the Unification Process
During the 2012 annual conference session, approval was granted to enter into the unification process of the Rio Grande Conference and the Southwest Texas Conference to form the Rio Texas Conference. Tremendous work has been done to realize God’s Plan and much is left to be done. We now need to give our newly-elected board the authority to work on your behalf to complete the details to finally realize God’s plan. Accordingly, the following resolution of the members of the Rio Grande Conference is presented to you:
We resolve as members of the Rio Grande Conference, in continuance of our commitment to the unification process and the Rio Texas Unification Plan uniting the Rio Grande Annual Conference and the Southwest Texas Annual Conference as adopted by both annual conferences during the February 8, 2014 Special Called Session:
1. To approve the unification and combination by the merger, transfer of assets and operations, and/or dissolution of the Rio Grande Conference into one or more corporate entities that will also hold the assets and operations of the Southwest Texas Conference.
2. To authorize the board, on behalf of the Rio Grande Conference and its members, to transfer assets (including real property and funds), execute documents, make filings with governmental entities, merge the Rio Grande Conference, and/or dissolve the Rio Grande Conference, and take any other actions that the board deems necessary or prudent to accomplish the combination and unification of the Rio Grande Conference and the Southwest Texas Conference.
